EPSXE 1.6.0 Black Screen - Tried Everything

First i got version 1.7.0 and everytime i tried running an iso or cd, the screen would go black make no sound or any sign of loading then close. I changed the PED or whatever it is, I tried version 1.6.0. I have the BIOS and necessary plugins. I am using

Video - Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.76
Sound - ePSXe SPU Core 1.5.2
Cd-rom - P.E.0p.S. CDR Driver 1.4

I have tried changing the Video settings and different games but nothing. the cd's work on a proper psx. i've read the troubleshoot thread and many other black screen threads, but cant find any relating to mine. please help. i tried making it show fps but that didnt even come up when trying to run a game.

what games. its probably the CDR plugin at fault or the drive you're reading them with.

I'm having this same issue... however when I put ffxi the emulator runs fine...

Enable subchannel reading, rip them to disk with a DVD-RW with subchannel reads enabled... etc
