Vib Ribbon stops going into gameplay

My re-issue copy of Vib Ribbon (not sure what it's called, the book series?) won't play in ePSXe, any version up to and including 1.5. It will show the intro properly and the starting menu, but then the vector graphics go out of control (the screen fills up with random vectors) and the game stops trying to work.

Has anyone gotten this to work? Is it just the reissue that's a problem or are all versions like that?

btw, my game is an original CD (not a CDR/ISO).

No version plays this , something to do with the music from your cd controling what the graphcs do...
