can't fast forward with pete's xgl2 v2.9 and epsxe 1.6

first some info:
i am using ubuntu 8.04
epsxe 1.6 linux version
pete's xgl2 linux psx gpu v2.9
p.e.op.s oss audio driver 1.9

issue.
i can't seem to find any fast forward button in the config window or in the config file.

so i am wondering is there a fast forward button in the linux version or do you know of any plugin that offer a fast forward button or will there be in the future?

in most of petes video plugins there is a "..." button in the framerate section, its usually to the right of the "show fps display on startup" box, once you click it it brings up a menu where you can map GPU keys, one of these keys will toggle the fps limit on/off.

thats usually what i do with the windows versions but i cant find any such option in the linux versions.

i have tried the petes xgl2 2.9, petes mesagl 1.77 and p.e.op.s. softx 1.18 plugins and none of them had such an option. if you know of a plugin that do, please tell.

here's a screenshot of the xgl2 plugin configuration:

Perhaps its about ticking the "SHOW FPS DISPLAY ON STARTUP" option.
Dude you can always refer to the ReadMe files provided within the GPU plugins packs (all ReadMe Files since each ReadMe offers different info). I have no problem from the beginning because I do always read the release notes (ReadMe ) before anything.

the readme files doesn't really mention much, just how to config the plugin on linux, in the readme he also said:
basically all the options of my
Windows OpenGL2 plugin are included

but i can't find anything on a fast forward button, in either the graphical config and neither in the actual config file, you can see for yourself.

the SHOW FPS DISPLAY ON STARTUP option just shows the fps ingame.

edit: with the show fps option i could go through a small menu on top where i could edit some option with the page up/down and home button and i could change the fps limit option to 0=max fps 1=user defined and 2=auto. but that's still harder to use than a button you press for speeding up.

Well, that's the same thing here for the win users.

You could choose: use fps-limit
and set: fps limit-manual too a high value, like 300.
And then i would guess that you switch between fps-auto-detection (which would be 50 for pal and 60 for NTSC) and your custom value with the same short-key as used in the windows version of the plugin - sort of like you said.

I believe that too be the easiest option and not too troublesome.

The maximum FPS value allowed by the plugin is 200.

ah i see my bad then, i assumed the linux version would have it or something like it since most of petes video plugins have a similar menu layout. shendo might know if this can be done or not, hes pretty well versed with epsxe on linux from what i know so he might be able to come up with some ideas. you could either do that or you could try posting on petes forums and see if some of the users there can think of anything.

well actually i posted at petes forum before i posted here but i haven't gotten any answers there yet. but as i posted earlier:

with the show fps option i can go through a small menu on top where i could edit some option with the page up/down and home button and i could change the fps limit option to 0=max fps 1=user defined and 2=auto.

so at the moment i use the home/end buttons to cycle through these settings and that works for me at the moment.

that was the first thing i tried, after that i tried every key on the keyboard which led me to discover how to use the small menu and cycle through the different fps option.

Excuse my badness, but who is that bastard that told you that there exists such a button or feature, well NO, there are not, and the only way to do a fast forward is as fellow :

1- Using save-states.

2- Creating a BUG within the emu while running by setting the FPS to 200 (max) + Frame skip (and no limits or auto thing).
You can toggle those options while in the GPU menu, I tried it many times and it works but it needs a huge amount of GFX-memory, thus an extra GFX card (Hardware, CPU also matters).

well in the windows version, you can fast forward by pressing 9 (the default button) but you can choose a button for it at the plugin config menu so it speeds up to max while the button is pressed.

I used it a lot of times when i was using windows, but at the moment i use linux and i missed that feature leading to me asking here.

It's basically the same framlimit and or frameskip-feature, the term "fast forward" is a bit mis-guiding.

well i just didn't think of a better word, i guess you could call it a button that temporarily disables the framelimiter while held down.
