DirectX 9 plugins?

I recently upgraded to 1.70 and started playing X-Men Mutant Academy. Long story short, I'd like to see what a DX9 plugin can do. The only one I've found is Nikk's Next3D, but it crashes the game after selecting the character (works great on other games). Are there other DX9 plugins?

Yeah I use the OGL2 stuff for gameplay, but I was hunting for a DX9 plugin so I can rip some models using 3DRipperX for a personal project.

if there was one, you would have found it by now, and hoping for someone to develop it seems unlikely because ogl2 plugin is doing everything dx9 plugin would ever do and to develop one will be quite a considerable task especially to get it to the level of the petes direct x and opengl2 plugin.

Also if i remember correctly that pete mentioned it was pointless for a dx9 plugin since there are no extra features that the current dx plugin (i think it is a dx8 plugin) cant do. If you are asking for dx9 plugin just for model ripping it would allot less of a task for plugin developer to add it as a feature than making a new that is compatible with model rippers.

Also using models in a personal project may get you into trouble since it is intellectual property you are stealing since you are not asking for permission to use their work, even models that are game and anime characters, even though are not rips, used for all unreal tournament games are cease and desist letters/emails. Tread carefully because your personal project could end up like chrono resurrection, which is an impressive 3d recreation of chrono trigger by the way.

By the way if you arent aware chrono resurrection is dead, although there is a video of what they accomplished so far before the project died.

So either learn to do your own work because you could end wasting years of work. I didnt want to come off sounding harsh but better from me than a gaming company pursuing legal action against you.

does 3dripperdx even work on Nikk's Next3D??

anyway i used OGLE, which is an openGL ripper. and it appears ripping from ePSXe is impossible. though OGLE works, there is one problem with how the game renders polygons in memory. it only renders what you see in front of the x axis. anything behind it is deleted.

No "laws" prevent anyone from extracting content from his games. Usage of these in whatever project or endeavour doesnt fall within the "juridiction" of a forum (nevermind this forum). [/offtopic]

Did you try other apps than 3dripperdx (such as OGLE) ? (you could as an aside, save specific game sequences using Dr Hell's GPU recorder plugin and GPU Player, then work with these for 3d ripping )

I wonder if it does mean something...
I think You can use someone's copyrighted work for Your personal purposes, i.e. unless You are going to make money with it or put Your name under the "Author" label.

OMG! if all your going to do is complain
about what we do with our games is illegal..

PM a mod, tell your mommy, but
-> STOP going off topic!

..anyway i've already tried using OGLE and 3 different dx9 capturing progs.
the main issue is the scrambled textures. the model's are easy enough to
remodel from the flat blueprint I got from OGLE. but without the textures
there is just no way.

so anyone know of a method to atleast dump "unscrambled textures" ?
that would defiantly be a step forward. also the idea of using bleem on DC
has crossed my mind. there is a good emu called nullDC that works with dx9
if it runs the PSX emu(Bleem) then there might be a possibility of WIN ^_^

It is not off topic since talking about the legal concerns, also no matter what reason unauthorised means you are not allowed at all...

By the way, you can't extract the models anyways since this is ripping from an emulator not a real game so all you will ever get is corruption because the emulator is only rendering psx graphics and obviously psx renders everything differently to pc. You got to remember that the game relies the data is derived from a psx disc hence it is not as it is replacing or recreating the models with models that normal pc games use, it just tries to render them with whatever is possible in opengl and direct x.

If a plugin was made in dx9, it still wont solve your prob unless the plugin was made specific to your needs and i dont think any plugin developer will go through creating a plugin from scratch just to allow the models to be rendered properly for extraction especially considering that the plugin needs engine specific, like a plugin is to be made for the engine used by silent hill and another plugin for legend of dragoon

reason why i jump to the legal side, they are laws about this for a reason and it is better say the laws about then why it cant be easily done
