Help getting D-pad and analog to work at the same time
Hello forum. I have an input-related problem with ePSXe 1.6.0. I'm using a Sony Dual Shock 2 with a PS2 to PS3/PC USB adapter. It's a pretty generic adapter. It's made by a company called Dragonplus. Here's a pic of it - http://www.spotted-horse.net/images/...adapter.WM.jpg
The problem is, I can't get the D-pad AND the analog stick to work at the SAME time. Both will work, but I can only get one or the other. If I press the analog button, and the red light comes on, I can use the analog stick, but not the D-pad. If the red light is off, I can use the D-pad, but not the analog. It is rather annoying, considering I used my friend's adapter once (which was a Pelican) and did not have this problem. I tend to use the D-pad AND the analog stick with most games I play in ePSXe, and having to press the analog button every time I want to switch is something I need to fix, if I can. ZSNES will let me use both at once though, so I'm inclined to think there's something I can do in/with ePSXe to fix it, or perhaps find the appropriate drivers (which I have been unable to do, and I've tried. The adapter is supposed to be straight up plug n play though). I have tried every possible variation in the controller config menu in ePSXe. I've tried digital only. Digital/analog. Tried setting the directional buttons with the red analog light both on and off. Tried hitting F5 while playing a game. Nothing. ANY help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. |

try using 1.7.0 instead and see if there are any changes.

btw if it gives you a messge upon startup that says its missing a .dll file, google that exact file name and you should find a place to download it from.

When analog is turned off you move axis with D-PAD which moves it to the max when pressed and min when released.
When you turn on the analog you have more precise control of the same axis but D-PAD is now in control of point of view hat. That's the flaw with default drivers, you should find the appropriate one for this device. Last edited by Shendo; June 24th, 2008 at 11:49. |

Well guys, I have looked and looked and looked, and it seems there is no driver for this type of psx/ps2 to usb adapter. Apparently it was designed to be plug n play, and it is, so there is no official driver for it. I tried downloading one from Radio Shack's website, they used to make an identical adapter. Did nothing. ePSXe 1.7.0 does nothing to help over 1.6.0 either.
There may be some patch or fix that exists somewhere that disables "point of view HAT," but try googling that and you'll get totally unrelated links. If only I knew the exact reason why ZSNES (and perhaps other emulators, haven't tested) doesn't have this problem, I might be able to do something, but I guess I'm in the dark. Thanks for trying though guys.

I have a Wind Spirit Converter III USB converter. My problem is that the D-pad won't work at all unless the analog is switched on, and the analog sticks never work. I had the same problem using pSX, so it's likely my hardware. Tried it with several controllers, including a PS2, and a MadKatz Dual Shock. If the controller has no analog function, like the original PSX, it won't work at all.
