Am I missing something? Why isn't there a topic about the new update that's about to come out? Maybe I just can't find it.
Anyway, I think it's ****ing great that you guys are continuing with this program because the Playstation is my all time favorite system. I mean most of my favorites have been ported to better systems and remade but there are still some exclusives that haven't been. My favorites being Silent Hill and Final Fantasy IX. Of course, Resident Evil II is my absolute favorite but it's been ported so there's no need to play it on an emulator. Sorry I'm rambling. OK the real question is, Is it actually possible to remove the texture jumping/jittering in PSX games? For example, if you're playing Silent Hill and you're looking at Harry's face, it gets distorted...like a picture puzzle moving its pieces around. But it's not just certain textures, it's every texture in every game. Why did the playstation do that? Is it because of the low 320x240 resolution? I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does. My friends say they don't even notice it but I really do. I'm sure it isn't possible, because you probably would have already implemented something like that. But if it is, how hard would it be? Last edited by sparklingdark; May 12th, 2008 at 12:46. |

Yes, there was already a thread about it (it's pretty much the official discussion thread about it, since commenting on the epsxe site is not available)

He's talking about the lack of perspective correction on the psx hardware, sorry there is no plugin or emulator to fix that, the psx doesn't have Z-buffer, some games emulated it like Crash Bandicoot but most didn't.

Yep, but i remember that funny thread (back in 2002) where galtor, pete and lewpy were talking about the possibility of this and iirc the conclusion was something like:
-It may be possible with HLE emulation. -GTE sends information about the depth, but some games will change that, these will produce glitches. -The performance hit would be big. |

Though nowadays, even poor systems like mine (pentium 4 @ 2.4 Ghz, Geforce 4600 Ti) - Gets about 200-300 fps in most games, so it might be possible performance wise.
But it's probably more hassle than the actual visual benefit anyways, perhaps

Did my homework, a bit of digging and dust blowing, anyway, found a thread where lewpy explains it :
Perspective Correction --- What's up with that? P.S: Just don't look at my comments, I was, well, I wonder what I was back then
