advice on audio settings
I'd like some advice on audio configuration. As shown below, my current configuration has the framerate limit off with my audio plugin (Eternal 1.50) controlling the framerate via SPUasync-wait. I have tried other combinations of plugins and settings, but this particular setup is the one that produces the most accurate audio. Even setting the audio out method to Thread will cause the sounds to change a bit for the worse.
I used to have the buffer size set to 64, which has the pleasing effect of making everything smooth. However, i recently realized that the delay it causes is noticeable. I have played with it a bit, but lowering it too much makes it stutter briefly when the game is loading content such as models, animations, or FB effects. I'm currently trying 24. I don't really notice any delay, but it does still stutter a little (not as much as at 8 or 16). I wonder what the PSX itself uses, if anything. Summary: I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice for the achieving "perfect sound". ================================================= Current config: Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.8 Author: Pete Bernert Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation GFX card: GeForce 7800 GT/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW! set audio out method to thread, my buffer is either 64 or 80, enable the 3 game fies and enable the XA setting. also in the SPU selection menu, have the top 3 boxes ticked and the 4th unticked. i use these exact setting and i have no sound issues whatsoever.
