Yeah, the ending could be better... Enix always did this: great RPGs with not-so-good endings...

I beat Brahms - he is pretty easy. All you need is:

- Guts on a high level for everybody, if he manages to unleash his special attack on you
- Avoid, Reduce Damage, Defend skills on high levels
- Some nice armor (the Divine items should be enough)
- loots of Poison Crystals (others might fit, too, but Poison Crystals inflict most damage)

I don't know my level exactly, but I think that Valkyrie was at around 25 and the others about 20. When I first met him (on a lower level), his hits did 15000 damage, but the second time they only inflicted around 1000 and more often he didn't even hit me! Let everyone use the Crystals and he shouldn't last longer than two or three rounds.

But: You won't get any Exp. Pts...

Cool, I guess I was in between and he did a lot of damage, I tried to go face him at a later time with higher levels but he was gone.

This is a little off-topic, but I found this art book for VP a couple weeks ago and thought I'd share some of the beautiful pictures.

I resized these to 40% of the original scans, which were over 2000x2000 each and huge files. I compressed them as JPG with only 40-60 quality, but these are still large, so may be slow loading on dialup...

Anyway, although they aren't screenshots... enjoy!

Oh and there are about 130 pages in the book, weighing in at about 230 MB. These are the best images IMO, most of the rest are of the separate characters' art and portraits in the game.

Aww, sorry... I didn't buy it. My friend in Singapore has the actual book and made the scans. If you'd like the pictures of a specific character I can size it down and post them.

It looks very similar to Tactics Ogre. Albeit, the pictures seem to be of higher quality. I'm more excited about the Oxide 2 art book (artbook for Magna Carta: Crimson Stigmata) I recently ordered. I really like Hyung Kim Tae's art style. Probably just because of the more "feminine" male characters. (Softer features)

I'm really surprised how sharp the blue/white light in picture two looks, it's so sharp it looks almost out of place . The game backgrounds and artbook pictures are quite nice as well .

Hushy, switch to the PEOpS Soft plugin, immediately! The game is mainly 2D (screw teh world map!) and some of the best effects like the warp effect will only show with that plugin.

If your card can handle OGL2, use Pete's OpenGL2 plugin. IMO it produces the best results. If you configure it well, you can even see the warp effects.

IMO its better than the soft plugin, even if you don't like bilinear filtering (like me). Look these shots: The first one is using filtering (and it doesn't scramble the 2d images), and the second one is not using filtering.

well i was messing around with peops/OGL2 earlier and i cant decide what i like better. on one hand, with OGL2, i like the sharpness of the 3D things and the crispness of the backgrounds, but on the otherhand, i like the sexiness of Peops blurriness. honestly, i enjoy both, im just not sure what ill be playing the game with.

however, i found a bug in OGL2 already, i cant send a memory card because it's so deep into it, i had to use a save state. but there is one part, where he says "i'd kill that stinking knave"..on the 3rd line of text it freezes with OGL2. with the other plugins it didnt do that. so, knowing that OGL2 might be buggy (i remember helping pete with debugging it whilst playing through FF9 back in the day) i may just stick with Peops.

Well, I've beaten VP2 using OGL2 plugin, and this is the only bug I've encountered. But this thing happened to me with the normal OGL plugin and with the soft plugin too. There's a way to get past this: just disable the frame limit before this sentence. It won't freeze. Then u can enable it again.

trust me i tried disabling frame limiting and reloadign save states etc

the only thing that worked was playing with OGL and Peops. i dunno though, we'll see. maybe ill play this game liek i did FF9, i beat that entire game using D3D, peops, OGL2, and OGL1 for random parts

I find it strange that I've got this ultra low-end computer and yet I never have to switch plugins around... not even settings usually.

Them who? Square-enix???? MEH!

Anyway, I still recomend OGL2 though. I've finished this game with it, and I had no problems. I use EPSXE 1.5.2, btw.
