back from some serious gaming on ff8(phew). it will be a bit difficult to post some limit breaks because i don't like getting too low on hp. also i've only been able to upgrade rinoa's weapon, it's a real pain to get the items required to upgrade them(better check out an faq methinks)

game over damn you diablos:laser:

That don't really work.. Diablos will level up as you level up.. Its better to level up your gardian forces and get as many abilities as possible.. And junction as much magic as possible.. First ablility to get is the midmagic and the ability to make magic from items.. Also, draw from diablos and use his own demi spell on him..

i think he opened the lamp as soon as he got it from Cid. At that time, Hp's at only 3 digits. I'd say level up first to a comfort level of 1000 HP+ to ensure victory.

If you go after Diablos as soon as you get the lamp (I think I was level twelve or something), he's really easy to beat. That's pretty much the theme with every boss. The lower the level you are, the easier they are. Of course, having a lot of cure stocked never hurts...

i just found it easier to beat with 4-digit HP numbers. those Demi spells knock off quite a huge chunk of HP.

the demi spells take away 1/4 of the opponents current hp which is pretty good with creatures with high hp.

odin, too bad he only shows up randomly but when he does show

You can only post more than one shot if you're linking to the images on another site. OR you could use the trick of multiple windows on one screen and/or image shrinking to put multiple screenshots into one image.

doesn't really look quite as good if you shrink their size tho.. but compresing them to 80 or 90% jpeg, doesn't really have than much of perceptible impact on the graphic quality..

yeah, i wish i could have also put some of my screenshots using the "[img]" tag, but i don't have a host..

thats the infamous cactuar island or cactus island.. that thing is the jumbo cactuar a GF, but you'll only be able to land on the island by using the Ragnarok, which is on the latter part of the game.

man that Jumbo Cactuar was TUFF! i fought him at only level 60+, with no water spells whatsoever, only relying on Leviathan (and his ultra-long summoning sequence ). Took me 30 minutes to defeat him.

oh, and when he says, "Jumbo cactuar is hesitating....", you'd best throw everything at him including the proverbial doorknob.... if he manages to escape, you'll start the whole thing again....and you won't get back those curagas/phoenix downs you've already used up.

whats that technique he uses? 10 thousand? 10 million? 1 thousand needles its called? can't remember.. anyhow, if i remember correctly, i used meltdown quite a lot, but that needle attack he uses has pretty much no defence, so once a character gets hit, poof! dead..

The cactuars attack strength depends on his level.. At level 100, his super attact does 10000 hp damage.. His normal attack is the 1000 needles.. It only takes 1000 hps.. I defeated him the first time I fought him.. Make sure you have one or more GF who can junction your speed stat and evasion stat.. Then junction those up to the max.. Then use some of those ability traits to boost up speed and evasion as well(speed 40, eva 50)l.. You can only fight him in disk three when you get the Ragnorak so you should be at a high enough level.. You did play a lot of the card game right? You can change powerful cards and rare cards into very useful items.. Some give your GF abilities that they normally don't get.. Some are used to get the last weapon upgrades in the game.. Allowing the use of the most powerful limit breaks.. Lion Heart.. I got he lion heart in disk 2.. Played a lot of the card game.. I defeated everyone.. Even the card queen on disk 4 where every rule is used..

Evasion will help you dodge the cactuars attacks and speed will help you get in a lot more hits.. The haste character ability is very useful in this fight.. You can always just use the ragnorok and go to the far west and far east islands to draw the powerful magics on them(hidden).. Just walk around and press the action button continuously.. Then return and pummel cactuar.. Having some aura spells is also good since they allow you to use limit breaks without being low on power.. Just cycle through characters until the clink sound.. Then limit break the snot out of cactuar..
