Why is that? I thought that PAL is at 50fps, and NTSC is at 60fps. So, if the PSX only runs at 30fps (if lucky), then it means the emulatorz are running it BETTER than on the actual PSX (Of course, disregarding the fact that graphics, sounds, etc.. is better)?

Chuck FRAPs at ePSXe. The FPS shown in plugins isn't the real FPS, but VI/s IIRC. The figure is around half of what it shows. Hell, ePSXe still shows 60FPS when it's playin an FMV. Most short FMVs were around 15FPS IIRC.

True, FMV's are at 15fps, at least that's what the movie ripping program told me

And you can see for yourself when you play the game. It's easy to see that the FMV's aren't running at 30 fps, and something I saw recently: GTA 1 on PS runs at around 15 fps during gameplay at certain times

PAL runs at 50 Hz, which means the tv screen is 'refreshed' 50 times a second, and running at 25 FPS means that the Playstation puts 25 new images on the 50 Hz tv screen per second. (to put it in a simple way )

It isīnīt tru ! PAL refreshes 25 odd lines and 25 even lines per sec.
also 25 complete pictures (50 halfpictures {interleasing})
The EMU puts 50 Fullpics/sec on the screen by 1024x768 (the PSX PAL have resolutoin of 576x288) now can you calc what more power is needed for the EMU.

Actualy IIRC, the FPS counter in the emus are 'virtual updates', meaning if you use Fraps, etc you end up with a vigure half that shown.

Thanx for the info
I knew there was more to it but I was too lazy to look things up
Meanwhile I forgot I actually post in here

Hmm, but do you suggest that emulating PAL games costs more power?
