Maybe I missed something, but what are these "beta quests" you guys are talking about? Are they user made expansions? Or kinda like a "2nd quest" like from NES Legend of Zelda? Or some unreleased unfinished easter egg? What's the deal?

Actually , cooliscool mentioned that to me...You have to have the cheat database of PJ64 v1.5 to access the beta quests. They are "test" versions of Zelda OoT.

heh.. they are hidden areas of the cartridge which we (the end users) were never meant to see. They contain beta parts of the game which would never have been able to be seen elsewhere. But that's just one theory.. some think that they were used in press releases, because if you look in the Manual booklet to the game, there's a shot in the beta quest. Shigeru Miyamoto said that in the OoT cartridge that there are hooks that would be used when the 64DD add-on would come out, unfortunetly, it never did. If you use the beta quest code and change the last four digits to 0001, go to Jabu-Jabu and you'll see an ocarina pad (you'll NEVER see this in the game, or a press release shot). It's thought this was either cut out, or it's a hook for the DD addon (Miyamoto may not ave been lying ) This area is extremely buggy and even shooting an arrow (Hell, even moving the camera) out of the "invisible safe zone" will lock the game, sending NO error messages to the debugger. That tells us that it is most likely a hook for th 64DD version.

/me takes a bow saying, "i know i'm the Zelda master."

nope, link is the same, areas are basically the same with minor differences from the released. Some afeas are so buggy you walk and you fall straight thru the ground, then when you're done falling, you'll revert to the top, and start falling again.

Pic of the extremely buggy jabu jabu lake.

Moving at all in this area is extremely dangerous - slightest movement can freeze the whole game.

I beat the game fully in fsd UltraHLE a LONG time ago. Ya know the during the credits where they are all dancing around the fire, it freezes right at that moment, music is still going, but no video. As for the rest of the game it was near perfection
