Well I should start looking for some videos first, I hope a friend has them because my harddrive crashed a weekend ago, I fear for my Hammerfall and Edguy videos, and the source material of the others.

Just uploaded my first video, Nightfall, by Blind Guardian.

To me the video feels more choppy than it is on my computer. I checked if it was either Xvid which I now use (instead of DivX) or Youtube. I'm kinda sure Youtube messes it up though, which is a shame because it makes my videos look like crap. Anyone has any advice on this one?

Looks exactly like other youtube videos. Youtube is not really that great on the high quality, man.

What bitrate did you encode them at? Single pass or dual pass? When you encode, try to get them as close to 100mb as possible and squeeze as much quality in there as you can. Most of the videos I upload are ~1500kbps dual pass xvid and I think the quality is pretty great.

My last video which was PCSX2 related (Tekken 4 footage), done at 320x240 @ 1000kbps v / 128kbps a, and it still looks like ****e 60MB's as well, and they still recompress it to hell and back.

..and some videos just come out better than others. I have one of Sonic Adventure that's looks really poor because of the compression, but also a few in which it's much less apparant... yet they were all processed in roughly the same way.

I had the video part at 700kbit/s and audio at 192kbit/s mono. I think I used Dual Pass. The problem here is that I prefer not to get the filesize much over 30 mb seeing how uploading here is a complete disaster with these crappy Dutch DSL deals. 4mbit downspeed my arse, I will settle for 3 if only I had a better upload than 256kbit. I noticed that once I will let uTorrent upload with 20kb/s or more we aren't even reachable by phone!

Seriously, internet connections should be provided with speeds at least with a ratio of 8:1, 16:1 is a huge bottleneck.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, thanks for the feedback though

Ha, and I thought Euro ISPs were amazing. Well, maybe that's for the Nordic countries. I'm really far from my DSL box, so while my theoretical max is 3000/512, I'm getting something like 1300/440.

Maybe I've just got upload skillz, my videos all look pretty nice on youtube. You can always try Google video, by the way.
