The kinda stereotypical black maid plus an episode where Tom, after having a ton of coal dropped on him, walks out from it in front of the maid, with a blackened face and says "no m'am, i done seen no cat" (or something to that effect.)
I've not seen T&J in a very long time. All cartoons were bordering on the racist back then. F**k it, half of those cartoons were shameless, unrelenting, total propaganda. The "Superbunny" episode of Bugs Bunny for example ends with him saying (something to the effect of) "if you want to be a real superman..." puts on a sailer outfit, holds a rifle, and marches onwards to where a sign says "Berlin." |

I can't explain the racism in the cartoons but I kind of understand the propoganda when most of these cartoons were drawn around in the 40s during WWII. It's crazy how much stuff they get away with back then even though we think people back then were uptight in a lot of ways. I wanna see someone do a cartoon like those today and see how they would get lynched by today's PC world. Obviously I don't support racism and other negative shots towards different groups in society as a whole but back then these guys who drew these cartoons were using them as a way to express themselves and I bet you when the soldiers and citizens who supported them saw these cartoons they felt differently towards them than we do today. But that's just the war themed ones.... no comment about them taking shots at the black folk.
Warner Bros sure were the crazy bunch in the cartoon world though.. can't say I remember a Disney cartoon ever doing such a thing. |

And it's not like I knew what racism was in the first place when I was watching those videos. People don't become racist because of Tom and Jerry cartoons, either they're already racist or they just laugh about the stereotypes, as I'd probably do if I'd watch them all over again. And the black lady sure sounded like the 'big momma' of a black family, I don't see anything wrong with that, I remember seeing a video of Christina Aguilera a couple of years ago in which they use the same stereotype. |

So are you saying using violence for comedy is alright instead of using violence to please the male blood thirst because if the WWE was an anime it would fall into shounen and we all know how bloody those guys get even though it's fake and pure entertainment.
I know the difference between the two but I fail to see why one is alright and the other isn't. |

Please show me an episode of Tom and Jerry that has actual blood in it from fighting. You're mixing up two things: I was talking about cartoons for kids starting from age 3, that's not the target audience for WWE matches or violent Animes. Also, what I meant was that cartoons for young kids are getting more and more violent as well, while cartoons like T&J have a certain limit to showing details in fighting scenes, new cartoons show fists connect to faces and similar things. It's fighting to show violence, instead of a cat and a mouse chasing each other when suddenly the cat bumps into this huge dog in a funny way.
