Only for the looks, for the user there is no chaos and perfect system (a.k.a. you just gotta be used to it). But i don't understand how you fix up that icon patter without windows reseting it to defaul for no reason what-so-ever.

Which VS is that? Maybe there's an actual OSX theme that does not have the ugly mac caption bar buttons.

hmm my installation of Amarok on my laptop (using ubuntu dapper drake) insists on not playing of any of my media files. It adds it to some weird-layout library and insists it cannot find the media file.
Amarok engine is the key to play the media files. Untill now, Im stick with xine engine becasuse it can play all media files I have. All you have to do is install Xine library, w32codec for wma playback and yes amarok-xine package.

Now I hate you because no matter what I do I can't get compiz to work on my lap

EDIT: wow.... after trying it again i got it working after 10 minutes of work... go wonder ... now to tinker it a bit... where did you activated window transparency?

EDIT1: Switched back to classic xorg after 15 minutes... too much blows and whistles for me

I have a question, does it play .mid files?
Due to the amount of anime on my laptop i can't afoord to transmute... i mean convert... my .mid files. But i can just squeese in those libraries but i want to be sure cause i wanna keep that little space open for important updates (it's around 20mb left -.-)

To play midi files you need a special library called timidity. It's not that big, and you can play midi files with it

Using gset-compiz is an easy way to set up compiz. I did all the transperancy thing there.

You could put in a script that automatically changes it back whenever those apps are launched, and back when none of those are running.

edit1:
awesome, i got amarok working. 10/10 media player

anyway, i'll post my laptop desktop in a second.

edit2:
here's my laptop's desktop:

Well since it actually would have to restart the window manager I would see that more like a hassle, since I would actually have to relogin and tell everything else to start up again

Anyway I update my compiz version and... surprise, it is messed up beyond redemption (it won't start up anymore). I guess I'll have to reinstall it from scratch

hmm, first of all how do i give timidity or playmidi the playback devices they need? Timidity can play back a couple of instruments but lacks the very most of them. Playmidi says it's missing playpack device.
edit: *just to keep it on topic* rate-my-laptop
