Bamboo, I'd say. Better than the previous consumer range of Wacom (including the competition). There's more than one version, so just see which looks the most attractive.

The one I posted is the one I got. I know Wacom has been a good tablet maker and all that, but just try something else out for a change. Like... do you know the guy who do speed paintings? He uses the same brand of tablet that I use. It's not the tool that makes the art, it's the artist that makes the art.

If it's too painfully hard to even decently create art with cr*ppy material. I'll have to assume noone serious really uses HB pencils or nonspecialized furnitures, especially the lightest ones (except for quickie 2minutes sketching).

The better the tools, the better the output (GIVEN sufficient mastery from the artisan)
Give a noob lumberjack a chainsaw = 3 trees down a day
Give a seasoned lumberjack an even better chainsaw = 12 trees down a day

Give a Bin rat a chainsaw = save your bodily fluids and run for cover ;p

Give an artist nothing and he'll make art out of himself or out of the nothingness. I don't use HB pencils. I use HB pencils' broken leads to draw. Everything can be made into art, you know.

well abstract has its limits. for me that is. the most my art has brought down is $550 for a 3 by 2 foot drawing of a caddilac escalade.

Only to be beaten out by someone drawing a singke line down a canvas...then selling it to some narcoleptic chimp for 13 million

Make a Mona Lisa out of spaghetti. It could be noteworthy for creatibity, but nothing else.

Professional tools are desirable for professional works for a reason, at the very least to get a hold of them (gaining XP / leveling up)

Well, im still quite happy with my cheap automatic mechanical pencil at the moment (the ones that automatically ejects pencil leads), as long as i can place my imagination and thoughts on paper im satisfied (just me i guess)
Having a tablet might still be good though, its just not that big of a priority for me (my budget always go to computer hardware lol)

EDIT:

So, another random contest entry...

I couldn't think of any other sports other than the common volleyball and stuff so i just choosed some rather random boxing "fanservice" shot -_-

Will scan this later, as its too blurry -_-

Just makes it easier. Doesn't mean it's going to make it great.

Send here enough spaghetthi, and I'll make sure it's put to "good use". Don't forget soja soice flasks.

I imagine you have been assuming that untrained amateurs manage to master professional tools as easily as pulling cash out of their pockets ;p

Sensitivity levels: 512 versus 2048.
Significant difference, moreso when going 600 DPI or higher ;p
Higher resolution turds would still remain turds (though a little more "detailled", I'd suppose)

You have to admit though Rikki that the better your tools are the easier it is to make something good.
I aint saying it will be better, but the chances are certainly higher.

You definitely need better tool for professionals to produce professional work; it is the very logic as getting a better computer
What's the point of top end workstation if you can make the rendering in a $500 comp?
Why do you need better computer/OC for better gaming performance?
It is time, quantity, and quality, and time is money.
Why do you need electric screw drivers if you can just use your finger nails (sarcasm)
I think Adobe should not exist anymore then, since you can just use MS paint, MS video maker, and MS front Page instead of Photoshop/illustrator/etc. and Dreamweaver.

and of course a professional can produce something decent(in relative to other people) with a low end product, but that professional can produce something amazing(in relative to his other work) if he can get hold of the best tools.
The biggest enemy is yourself; You can't just compare with other people all the time.
:]

Oh, and if one thinks that the higher end product produces the same result as the lower end one, then it only means that one is not professional enough to utilize the superiority of the higher end product over the lower end product.

But if one who can produce better quality works on a low-end tool compared to a high-end tool, we may have to question the quality of the high-end tool... Sorry... time is money, but money IS money! (Slogan of dealers)

I'm not saying that high-end tools are not good. I'm just saying... price isn't everything, and brand name isn't everything. Sometimes, taking another route to try out something will save you (a lot of) money and time. It's adventurous, but it pays off quite well. I'm not questioning the skills of an artist, rather, I'm questioning the quality of current professional tools.
