I used Colors!. The other picture (the one with the sunset background) was also drawn using that program. And by the way, it's still Oekaki.

Really? Mmm... I think you're better off without the pressure sensitive in that program.

What do you mean by without pressure sensitive in that?

Samor: here's a link for Colors download: Colors

Ever since 1.05, you can now choose to turn off pressure-sensitive control by unchecking the boxes under either the opacity or brush size control. When you have pressure sensitive checked, the stronger you press, the darker and thicker your strokes become. The previous releases did not seem to have an option to turn off pressure sensitivity, nor did they have an option to calibrate the pressure sensitivity. Heck... they did not even have an option to change the brush size. You could only change the color, and that was it.

Edit: Here's the sunset picture, again.

Colors! Gallery - picture details

And on that page, there's a Java applet that will playback the making process of the painting. It only plays up until I've finished the two characters due to the size limit... bah... but the background (with the cloud, sun, sea, etc...) was quite easy to make to be honest. And no... I did not dare mess with pressure sensitivity. My DS touch screen is kinda wack... so when I press it down just a bit harder than usual, a straight line will bleed through the drawing. You can see that quite often in the playback.

I liked the pressure sensitive feature though, kinda make my drawings look like paintings. Never liked the Cell-shaded anime coloring style so you probably will never seethings like that in my work.

Nice draw btw, I am amazed that you managed to make something like that, i couldn't get much out of the small screen, and my hand cramps when I tried too hard.

Looks awesome. I did a revision of my Soma drawing. IMO, it looks WAY better(no PS editing this time):

I am practicing for my Graphire4 tablet next week... obviously, the thing won't be that much different from a DS. And ehh... I am amazed at the background, though. No pressure sensitivity and I could still make that thing. I'd think that it was impossible.

I see, I used a different program than colors; forgot the name. This one looks nicer, though
I'd try if if I still had a DS

Phidias? Draw?

Anyway, this program is awesome. The response time is what I like about it most. It responds to every single stroke you make immediately, and with pressure sensitive, too.

I used both Phidias and Draw, yes.
I think I once posted a scribble (or 2?) here that was done with Draw.

...found one, I think the other one got lost (even on my HD; it was a simple scribble of a Haro (Gundam))

Nice pics everyone. I missed so much over the last while Hey quick question. I was thinking of getting the new Wacom Bamboo. Right now I have the regular oldschool Intuos 2 (small one) Do you guys think it is worth the upgrade?

Bamboo certainly looks worth it, especially for improved pressure and resolution. Surface size, you might not like, but that makes it very portable, especially with the detachable cable. I'll be getting one myself (quite the downgrade here actually, after my pro tablet but the size advantage and satisfying precision makes up for it nicely enough

Bamboo is targeted for general input tasks rather than specific graphics uses, similar to the lastest graphire4's with 512 levels of pressure sensotivity. 2 packages avail if im not too wrong
Bamboo: 3.7x5.8-inch active area
Bamboo Fun: either 3.7x5.8- (small) or 5.3x8.5-inch (medium) active area (medium is the much better one to get)

I think you better stick with whatever you have at the moment. They way I see it, you don't need a tablet that senses even the air around your pen to be able to make amazing artworks. I could make such stuffs with just a Nintendo DS... which has a screen that is far smaller than the smallest tablet out there, with an Oekaki style homebrew application with no layer and filtering support, then... why can't you? And with a tablet almost twice the size of the surface of the DS? That is not to say that I am better than any of you, that is just to say that the art tool doesn't really matter. And small stuffs like the DS sometimes make a big difference. Don't underestimate the tablet you have, and use it wisely.

P.S.: And here's another con of drawing on the DS: Sometimes, you get jumping lines. Or in other words, you put your pen down, and a line appears randomly on your artwork.

Those are just my personal opinions. I myself loved how the DS performed so much, I purchased a Graphire3 off eBay. It's coming somewhere next week... hopefully. Maybe then, I'd have more to base my opinions on. But for now, I'll let my artworks speak for me.

No worries Fadingz, take your time. Exams are close by here too, and I know what it's like.

That looks awesome, by the way.

Tablet is here! Yay! Although I've used an NDS extensively, this thing still takes me hours to get used to. And no, it's not the you-cannot-look-at-your-tablet-while-you-are-drawing thing. It's how the surface is so much smoother than a piece of paper (Well, mine is a Graphire3, so I guess that's the reason) that I usually just slash the pen out. After a tediously long while, I've figured out the cure... or more like the only way I use my tablet: sketch slowly, using short strokes, and when you ink it, zoom in up to 300% to 400%, and then start going along the outline ULTRA slow. You can try going really fast... but with this kind of surface, and with this kind of sensitivity, you're bound to slide too fast and get something weird.

Anyway, artwork to be up soon. This thing helps improving productivity drastically!

Malice, from Riviera - The Promised Land(WSC/GBA/PSP), as seen in the artwork.
Still lacks some shading, though.

That looks nice. How about something you thought up all by yourself? Would love to see how creative you are.
