Looks interesting. Some shadings will definitely help. (:

The hair shading looks really good. (:
I still have a weird feeling about the foldings, though...? Umm... maybe there weren't so many... small folds?

If the fire's in the background, though, why is the light coming from the front?
Awesome job, though.

But that'd leave you almost shadow-less. Oh well, who cares anyway. It's still a damned awesome job.

To tell the truth...
I'd add a few more layers of shadows, but... it really is a pain in arse to do so ><

Or... mmm... need some good hints for Photoshop? I swear... it would take me ages to color using a mouse, too... but heck, I'm still using a mouse! And you have actually inspired me enough to do something crazy... so I'm going to reline that Kingdom Hearts character sketch there... and re-color. Here's the version I did earlier... in case you missed it:

My example of multi-shading is this:

Which took 21 layers of shading and 1 layer of highlighting
and all the stuff I'm working on have 3200*2400 resolution XD
So I only add more layers of shading if I like the piece I'm working on a lot...
It usually takes a whole day just to shade, so haha.

Mmm... I like the color on the hair, and the foldings... but the skin could really use more shading, I think. ^^; Have you ever tried to shade with the eraser and the blur/smudge tool? With that, you don't need like 20 or 30 layers of shadings.

Sharper hair highlights, yes.
Colors and sections need to be easily editable. 3 or 4 layers of shading per material are the common standard, with a total of 30-40 layers not being unfrequent.. When you edit using grouped layers, it allows for the best results.

Smudge and similar tools ruin the whole layer, editability-wise.

You don't really shade with eraser (you will end up with some brush prints), you're more likely to use some more convenient functions built-in the program you're using (more likely to be either painter or photoshop)
Images with less than 4 layers of shading per part/material will not yield a decent gradient.
Same % of transparency of shadow will yeld different effect on different brightness and saturation of colors, hence you have to divide up the materials/parts
(unless you are using anime style coloring/shadowing)
Anyhoo, this will definitely yield 20+ layers of shadowing without the background

Anyhoo,
Haha, Just finished the Luke cheagle

Hehe... actually, I'm not exactly following the anime (cel-shading) styles. And there is a trick to using the eraser tool and the blur tool in Photoshop to achieve good shading. Just change the opacity and the flow of the eraser to that of a lower value (I prefer 15% and 20%)... then go over a part that you want to shade once... but leave a bit for the darker part. Continue that but leave a bit for the next shade... and then keep up until the outermost edge is almost transparent... while the innermost is the darkest. Then just blur it. (:

Oh, and nice image, by the way.

Hehe thanx, but change the hardness of the eraser if you choose to do it that way, so You don't even need to blur the marks for the most part
