This is a Young Punx Wallpaper I made. Simple and to the point.

Ow sh... i'm bad at explaining things :/

Here it goes i hope it helps a little (though excuse the E.T. explanation):

First get a base image (something to help you get started, in my case it was my car in prostreet):



Now this one is already modified unfortunately but as a basics first rezise it to a really big size (in my case it was 2222X1778). If the image si to dark on some parts and things like that go to Image=>Adjustments=>Levels=> play with the settings until you get something satisfactory (in this case make all the places where the lines should be, visible).

After your done with the base image lock it so that you don't accidentally draw on it.



And with the preparations finished it starts:

I. Lines.

1. Well i for one either like to do the outline first and then inline or line each part individually (for this i choosed the outline method). So anyway lets get ready to rumble:

First choose the brush tool with a hardness of 100% and 2 pixels and your foreground color black (#000000).



After choose the pen tool set to paths:



And then start outlining with the paths:




And time to explain the difficult part (if it doesn't make sense look up some pen tool tutorial on youtube), so you add a anchor point by holding "Alt" and then pull (like draging a icon for example) to get angle for the path between this and the next anchor point(which can be adjustable). Circle the car like that till you reach the initial anchor point.


Next add a filled layer with a color that contrasts the ones your gonna use for the car (this makes it easier to check your work from time to time and spot errors, also in my case i choosed a light green). After you finished Outlining with paths make a new group name it lines in that group make a new layer name it outline. With the path selected right click on it and choose stroke and in the following menu choose brush then click ok



Don't delete the path Yet.
PS: You should now have something like this:



2. Now make a new group name it something like color/paint whatever, in that group make a new layer name it base/main. Note: Make sure this as well as any other group/layer is beneath the line layer. Go to foreground colour and choose something as the main color of the car (in my case it was #d1d1d1) Select the path again (if it isn't still selected) right click on it choose fill hit ok.



Ok now you should have something like this:



3. Hide obstructive layers (except the outlines) and start working on the inlines (same process as with outlines) make a new layer named inlines and use paths, you should have something like this:




4. Now for really dark areas i made a new layer named dark in the lines group and i do them by making shapes with the pen tool then filling with #000000:



Ok now for the difference in vectoring anime and some real life stuff:

5. Light Lines:

Light lines have to be not to dark but also not to light either since they have to be noticeable (in this case i choosed #828081):




II. Colors and Shapes


Well the first thing i did was delete parts of the main shape which wheren't necessary by using Paths.

Surround the part you want to remove using the pen tool like this (which in this case are the parts where the window transparency should be):



Now Right click with the path selected and choose make selection after press delete on your keyboard.

In the End you should have something like this:


Ok now on with Colors & shapes, unlike lines the main color layer is at the bottom and everything comes on top of it (also the the main layers color is the one most predominant in the vector).

1. Front Bumper:

Create a new group call it front bumper. In that group create a layer name it "main front" for example (in my case i just named it "main" since its in a different group), using pen tool and paths make a base shape of the front bumper and fill it with the predominant color (in my case it was #2a2a2a):



2 Shapes, so to get some detail on the front bumber you need to do some shapes with the pen tool using the original image as reference, each having its respective color:



Until it gets detailed like this:



Same things applies for the rest of the car, rims, whells,interior and body each have there own group and are made from multiple shapes.

So i'm gonna jump over those since its the same thing, though here is the basic layer ordering:



Side Note: depending on the preference of the one doing the vector some shapes can be filled with gradient and the best way of doing this is making the path/shape and then going to Layer=>New Fill Layer=> gradient, that way if you later wanna change something like angles, color, etc you can do it easily.


3. Ok so on to the carbon hood:

Well like others its made of shapes (which should be completed before adding the carbon effect) except to make it carbon like there's a extra process:

Make a new file 5 pixels wide and 1 pixel high, fill it with grey (in my case #707070) the first 2 pixel,s leave the other 3 alone. Now go to Edit=>Define Patern give it a name.

After go to the hood group make a new layer on top of the others in the group (name it carbon if you want) and make a selection bigger then the actual hood.



Go to Edit=>Fill choose patern and then choose your newly made patern.



now with the carbon layer selected press Ctrl+T (or from Edit=> Free Transform) and rotate the layer in a satisfactory position.

Now go to Filter=>Disort=>Twirl and choose something around 15 degrees though it depens on the car angle etc.

Holding CTRL click on the "main" hood layer, it should select itself:



Now go to Select=>Inverse, press delete on your keyboard.

4. Head lights, well same old, made out of shapes and i used the same pattern and tehnic as for the carbon hood the only difference is that i used to pattern and put them in a cross after that i changed the blending mode to Overlay.

5. Windows Tint.

Well first off its the interior though not something sophisticated (at least in this case).



Afterwords i did the the windows frames:



And last but not least the main objective the window, well fairly easy to do just make a shape of the window fill it with black and set opacity to around 90% depending on preference also you can some add a extra gradient layer containing white for some added effect.

7. Blending some shapes/effects may seem to not blend togheter well for those here is a tip: Duplicate the shape and apply Gausian blur with a setting of 4-5% then put it under the original layer.

III. If you wanna display your car make some BG, but imho something simple so that the brains main objective is the car, also you can add a 3rd object/render but take my advice don't put in a a hot chick, cause it takes all the attention away from the car, i learned that the hard way.

Well it ain't good but i hope it helps :P i for one now have gtg to watch transformers 2 at the cinema ^^.
