@Fadz:
What is your drawing/editing path? Draw (by hand), scan, vectorize, pentool, edit and color? Or perhaps some other method?

Hmmm I use my 3D models for reference some times.

Basic Steps:
Come up with the pose in Maya (nude+bald) -> Render -> Import to Photoshop -> Sketch up details (hair, clothing etc) using tablet -> Vectorize -> Color -> Shade -> Remove Vector -> Final lighting

If I don't use my 3D models, then I just sketch the post from say photo reference or just Mr. Woodman

Here is a pic of the end results of my first real use of Illustrator CS2. I made this during my navy days utilizing my ship's engraving machine on my clipboard as a test subject.

I first managed to find a good, "clean" hi-res line art pic of the ship's crest on the LAN. I then ran it through CS2's vectorization process (came out pretty good) and cleaned it up a bit using the pen tool. If you look at the banner, it says, "There is no light at the end of the tunnel." Originally, it said, "Lead from the front." I decided to change this based upon my own personal experiences on that floating tin can...

Instead of writing out HT2 (my rank and rating), I decided to vectorize my rating symbol. These clipboards were all the rage for a while once somebody spotted me walking around with mine. Afterwards, I had to vectorize nearly all of the other rating symbols as well. This was a pain since some of them were poorly done/were very low resolution GIFs; had to do many by scratch.

After a few years, we got a new guy who was fresh out of high school. I decided to teach him how to use the engraver since I was leaving in about a year. When I got to Illustrator, his eyes lit up in surprise. He said he knew how to use it just fine. Apparently, his high school in California offered an Adobe workshop, so I very quickly decided upon who my replacement was going to be...

Beautiful WIP Fadz. Damn, you're on a roll. Also, thanks for the info about the segments.

Oh, I kept wanting to tell you something because I thought that you may be interested. My main reason for getting into 3D is not just to make photorealistic artwork, but to make accurate scalable vector designs. I'm sort of a perfectionist when it comes to my stuff and I don't want to guess angles/proportions. It's a real pet peeve of mine and it really prevents me from wanting to to finish artwork in fear of it not being absolutely %100 accurate. That's where Google Sketchup/Swift 3D comes in. I discovered these apps just recently and I have been hooked. I really haven't been to active on the forum lately because I've been hooked on learning Google Sketchup and I've been using most of my free time learning it. What you can do is import a 3D model into Sketchup and export as an outlined image. Even better, if you get the pro version (which I have, I convinced the boss to get it for me to use at home and at work ), you can export models to accurate vector outlines. I plan to create 3D models of what I want to make and export the outlines to vector and recreate realistic vector artwork based on the outlines. Swift 3D has the same approach, mainly for animated flash movies, but Google Sketchup is more user friendly and more intuitive. Both have their pros and cons though, but I still prefer Sketchup.

I know its work in progress, so pointing out mistakes at this point will be better than saying it in the end, when he wont be able to fix anything.

Photoshop/illustrator CS4 has the same ability I believe
and they can import vectors to Autodesk 3dsmax and/or Maya and vice versa.
3D + 2D will give you the best result you can get.
You can get the perspective and 'correctness' of 3D while still obtain the details in 2D.

Haha
It's okies, I appreciate the critiques, I'll see if I can overcome this with clothing and etc.
Well, since we currently live in US, there's no harm having a Caucasian cosplaying an Asian, hoho~

Oh ****. Awesome! When is it coming out? I tried downloading the trial a couple of weeks ago and apparently it isn't available for download yet. As for Google Sketchup, I love it. I think that I will still use that to export vectors. It's so easy creating simple 3D designs, granted that you have the right Ruby Scripts in the plugin folder. SVG import is Godlike. I can take my flat 2D vector faces and logos and extrude them to make accurate virtual replications of the object.

I'll be testing it soon though...in 4 days starting 31 minutes from when I post this message.

On a different note, I've stumbled into a deadend with my drawings.
And I've got no one to ask for help around me so I'm sorry to say it'll take a while longer to finish up and post the fourth and final part of the comic strip...
