Well they chose it for the newer BTX formfactor standard that hasn't gained a great deal of momentum.
I suppose for those other than overclockers, hospitable cooler temps for the psu are more desireable. Since the cpu is directly below the psu and hot air rises and alot is sucked through the internal components of the psu even with the rear case fan sucking a great deal of the hot air out. ::edit::Here's the reason. Power Supply at the Bottom? why?

Well on my case, the PSU chamber is blocked of from th rest of the case....plus a fan pushes the heat out the back of the chamber.

Fesh installed everything XD
Just put everything together last night XD~ Took me 3 hrs to installed every single piece together @@" Then like 8 hrs of OS and software installation =_= I'm glad that my first PC built was successful with zero problem XD [well, I forgot to plug in the power core for my sound card...] Anyhoo, gonna learn more about OC before I do anything to my CPU @@" (Will post photo soon XD~)
