If I were to resell my new build on ebay, how much do you think it would worth?

Yeah but you take closeups without it even being worth it....I mean one can see nothing..rather take a shot from further away if it looks better...or not all...
I know phone cameras are often crappy, but one can learn to at least use them to their maximum potential...not just snapping random shots.

get a cheaper one... seriously.
So what if it will take you 30% longer to render your work. Your a student on a budget.
Waiting 8 hours instead of 6 isn't so bad.

Yeah, but other workstation cards cost a few hundreds as well, but have more than 2x rendering time T.T
and a mainstream card cannot do rendering; it runs into troubles in some cases.

and the ones on Neweggs are all AGP :x
offline retailers are overpriced and I don't trust other online stores...

no i wasn't talking about standard consumer level graphics cards. Remember? I was the one trying to give you advice to go with a lower priced workstation card in a previous thread a few weeks ago.
For student level work, and using technology that is constantly improving and getting better don't go with a high level card that will become mediocre in 3 years.
I just think its better to get a midrange card since you know that the card will be replaced in 3-4 years anyway if not sooner.
In 2-3 years there will be $650 card that can do as much and possibly more than the $1500 card your getting.

Once you get a job that requires a high level card, its likely the company you work for will provide you with one.

I see what you mean, I'll look into mid range card.
Thanx.
but I don't think I'll need to update this CPU for like 3 or 4 years XD (well, I hope...)

probably this one then
Newegg.com - PNY VCQFX1500-PCIE-PB-V Quadro FX1500 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Workstation Video Card - Workstation Graphics
but it's not Vista 64 compatible T.T

This one is pretty decent I suppose
Newegg.com - PNY VCQFX1700-PCIE-PB Quadro FX1700 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Workstation Video Card - Workstation Graphics

Hmm well are those cards fast enough for you school work and do they have enough memory? Just out of a hunch but I think you'll want at least 512mb of ram. Maybe you could ask some of the future profs or second and 3rd year students who are taking the same course your taking what a decent gpu is (what a decent gpu is in terms of school work though)

Get a couple opinions cuz theres always going to be those guys who tell you to get the uber l33test in computer hardware.

I'm an electrical engineering student XD and my school doesn't offer graphic classes =_=
So I'm doing this on my own
I'm pretty good at rendering already (been using my school CAD computer to practice, haha kinda burning them down XP)
The profs and 3rd or 4th year students can give me ideas about other stuff, but I don't think any of them is expert in graphic area T.T

I want to enter the gaming industry though, that's why I want to make an animation over the summer and start applying for jobs.

Yes 99% of the time. There are some speakers hiding behind the monitor though. That black thing below the monitor on the right is one of my 2 speakers and all the way on the right is my Bass box.
You forget I need to hide stuff from my parents...so that includes gunshots and jap anime voices aswell as spells being casted and a tons of other sounds so it's either a headset or no sound 95% of the time.

Ahh I see. By the way eventhough that's a cheapo headset (others kept on dieing on me so that's a really basic Genius) it does it's job admirably, even more so with my new sound card now. Aside from lack of ability to deafen the rest of the house I notice no real difference to my speakers. I am not an audiophile though, I hardly ever listen to music on my PC.
I love EAX's ability to simulate surround sound for games + movies

These are old pics I posted but in a long dead thread. I'd post new ones but my desk is too messy atm . My ps2 system is on my desk as well but it can't be seen from the angle of the second pic.
The black tower with the neon lights is my old case now sitting empty unused doing nothing collecting dust, neon lights, fans and all.
