Mine was still hitting 55+ with an 80mm fan blowing a couple of inches away from them. There's some rumors going around on the DFI boards that the Ultra-D's MOSFETs run unusually hot. They seem to run cooler on the SLI-DR and Expert boards.

Yay I'm soooo happy, finally picked up my 3rd 19" highend CRT today within 1½ month's time or so LOL. This one is by far the best one of these 3 and the best of course, no scratches like the 2 others had gotten, Sony G420 and Samsung 959NF.
Oh well this Sony G400 seems REALLY to be in top condition even 1280x960 @ 100Hz is about as sharp as my bro's LCD in analog mode. Also colors are VERY good, very nice find for only 75€ incl shipping (that person bought it for 817€ back in 2001 ). Soooooo happy now. *jumps around like a little kid during Xmas *Now I just have to see to it no1 touches the screen or I'll literally kill that person.

Time to bring my thread back!
Anyway I was able to snap some shots today of my new rig. All in all, I'm pretty happy I'm getting solid dual-core performance for around $700($830 after I get another gig of ram next week ).Full Specs: - Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86GHz(stock) - Intel DG965WH - 1GB Corsair XMS PC6400 DDR2 RAM - 160GB WD SATA Hard Drive - eVGA GeForce 7900GS w/256MB GDDR3(PCI-e rulez )- LITE-ON DVD+/-RW w/Lightscribe etc. - Acer AL1716 17" LCD - Standard Microsoft KB and comfort mouse Everyone has this case, but whatever. It looks clean, and even though it scratches, shows fingerprints/smudges, and is kinda heavy, I dig it. The adjustable speed fan in the back is great since I can't stand fan noise and always leave it on low. It doesn't sound like a tornado, it just kinda gently hums(except when the VGA fan kicks in.) I replaced the 450W PSU that came with it because of all the horrible reviews I read on newegg.com about how it died prematurely, some being DOA. The Mad Dog 430W PSU I got at work for $47 should hold me over for a while. Plus, it has blue LEDs in the back! Anyway, enjoy and make sure you post anything new you might have added...I missed reading this thread.

I've never had or used a l337 system in my entire life, I'm always stuck with low end crap. Jealousy is taking over...

But yeah sorry to hear that...although you can just put a few bucks aside each paycheck 'til you have enough. That's what I did. ![]() And the last paycheck of like $400 I blew on the final pieces.

SZl. That E6300 is just asking to be overclocked some. They overclock to 3 Ghz + at stock voltages and I'm running mine at 2.8 Ghz with a 0.75 undervolt. Depending on the motherboard you could probably get a 25% overclock out of it without even stressing about it.

ChrisRay: Just curious (sine the E6300 is the one I got), what are you using for cooling? I've got the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro, and heard it does alright, but not sure if it's good enough to take to around the 3 Ghz mark. Also, what seem to be safe level temps?

Well I was able to score this pretty decent HP desktop from work for $250 open box. I'm giving it to my brother for this birthday, but so far so good. Turns out the mobo and CPU were defective but replaced. Here are the specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3400+(Venice 2.2ghz) ASUS mobo 1GB PC3200 DDR 160GB IDE HD(going to throw in a 160GB SATA too) DVD+/-RW and Regular CD-ROM drive(weird they threw that in...) I also picked up a 19" Proview flat panel for myself(giving the Acer to my brother as well) for $227. The contrast ratio is lower than my old 17" Acer though, and I had to tweak both the monitor settings and video card color options to make it look decent...keeping it at 1280x1024 too long hurts my eyes, so I'm leaving it at 1024x768. Kind of a step down, but eh you get what you pay for. I'll live with it, despite the fact my brother is getting the better monitor.

No, see, they know that all the cool people bring their HPs to LAN parties. So, by slapping on all the stickers, everyone knows what to buy when they get home.

You guys.
![]() But yeah, that Proview was too much on my eyes. I got this Samsung instead and I'm having the same issue(sore eyes, headache.) Maybe I still have to get used to it...
