Anyways, AS3 makes a bridge between the microscopic layer of air in between your heatsink and your cpu/nb etc.. It is made of 99.9% silver or something like that, and makes heat transfer more efficient and quicker. Resulting in heat dissipating faster, and thus resulting in more heat being lost.

I never use cases when i build my computer and the freezer i have in the pic is the beta of my water chiller
soon the res will be change with a tube in tube heat exchanger, Condensor will be change with a Car AC condensor, and the compressor will be change with an 9100BTU AC Compressor

even tho its cold now i want to get colder
right now it got a 50/50 antifreeze/water mix down to about -40C
but then 5 min later it became a block of ice so now i'm going to use methonal mixed with water since that rated to about -50C

here is a nice frosty pick of the res

What does putting AS3 and good cooler on your northbridge do to improve performance. What do you gain? Is it safe? Details please I want a MX440 like Coolioscool!

Doing that is only good if you are overclocking
and yes AS3 can be dangerous if u get it on your broad it could cause a short
I would recomend CERAMIQUE it is a better heat conducter than AS3 and it not conductive so no shorts

I bet that attidute comes from age of Radeon 1. They were buggy as hell. Believe me, ATI has overcome NVidia in quality long time ago. They are faster and same time cheaper + MUCH more silent. FX cards simply suck. If you can find ATI 9500Pro/9600Pro somewhere at fair price, i give you my word that you would not be dissapointed.

hmm I plan to overclock my celeron to f**king hell with my new mobo. At least to 3GHz so I feel saucy

Anyway yes I've been reading that the FX series sucks ass, and I somewhat agree. The only Nvidia card that would totally knock me over is the FX5900 so I can use FSAA without a hitch. However they are so overpriced it's not worth it, but I've only owned cheap ATIs such as the 3D RAGE PRO AGP 2X and the like. I'm willing to give ATI a try but for right now I think I'll spend my money on something sub $80? A Ti4200 is probably on my list, or maybe a GF3 Ti, along with 2 Voodoo2's in SLI mode

Yep. The northbridge gets quite hot under extreme load and my ocing conditions, so I decided to put it on there. That and the old Celeron 466 fan helped alot.

SzL: You know you want my leet mx440. rofl. It'll be hard to reach 3GHz with that CPU, being on an 18u micron process. That and the added cache latency make 3GHz seem kinda far-fetched.

holy crap man....you have the EXACT monitor as me....a black FE771sb! what a small world

btw: is it easy to apply AS3? i really want to put some on my proc, i mean it crashed at 2900 under load (well...once...it ran F@H well every other time) but it was pretty damn unstable above that. maybe it's just my 2.66B...but i still want to keep it cool

Ceramiques a ***** to apply, curls up and takes longer to spread. AS3 is like peanut butter, but it spread much more easily and doesn't run or smell that bad. I perfer it, plus it's cheap and in alot of reviews Ive seen it outperforms ceramique, not to mentions easy to clean up. I got a 6.0g tube for $8 at www.svc.com they ship fast as hell too, no matter where in the U.S. you are. BTW, That NEC monitor you guys got is vicious...I mean wow that thing looks *****in, where can I get one

Coolioscool: oh really? Take a look at the snap below....Boo-Ya!

Oops, it is on 13u. Being based on the Northwood that would be right. But still, the cache latency could be an issue.

Here's a pic of my whole rig, besides my 17" HP monitor which is a loner, I'll have my viewsonic E771 17" back sooner or later.. long story, but this one's basically the same but under teh ghey HP name . Crazy world of computers in this house, hehe.

hushy: Yeah, AS3 is simple to put on, but don't apply too much. A thin layer and maybe a dab more closer to the center of the chip. As Xcool said, It's conductive so keep it away from any contacts.
