Are you sure you would really want to do that cool? I mean, the core is pretty fragile underneath. Besides, the heat spreader gives some height to the core as well, so that your heatsink sits flat. My HS barely sits flat on my coppermine as the HS was designed for a Tualatin. I had to make the clip really tight so it would sit flat.

Yes it does. All 3 of my computers have ASUS boards in them. My P200 has an ASUS P55T2P4, PIII 500 is in an ASUS P3B-F, and my Coppermine Celeron is in my beautiful ASUS CUV4X-E (Wish it was a TUV4X-E though.. that board pwns). Nonethless, ASUS is king.

yeah, ASUS kicks ass. my A7n8x-x is a dream

cooliscool: the reason the fans stop with the flash is just because of exposure speeds...not the flash itself. when there's a flash, the exposure speed is faster because it's bright

Esturk: Yeah I've read up on it quite a bit (http://www.geocities.com/_lunchbox/ is a good Tualatin fan site, they have a guid on it).. apprently there's a drop in temperatures with it off, but I decided that the risks outweigh the benefits.. so I either won't do it or I'll wait until I get myself a board for my P4.

Hushy: Yes I figured it had something to do with something a bit more technical that.. I admit I don't really know **** about cameras.

edit: are attachments down atm?

Yep. Lunchbox is a pretty good site indeed. Indeed I would wait to get a nice P4 board, and be happy with what you have already achieved. How hot does your Tualatin run that removing the IHS would actually help?

Actually, now that you think of it...Cooliscool has a pretty sweet ass rig. Although, I'm not sure if you can multi-task like I can.

P4's are great for multi-tasking with hardly a slowdown.

Esturk: It runs about 34C full load which is amazing, I just feel like tweaking some more, ya know? But while this is the best PC I have I don't wanna mess anything up.

SzL: I multitask like hell.. burning a CD, listining to mp3s, mIRC, posting here and occasionally running emus (I'm usually doing alot when running emus anyway. )

This is one hell of a CPU.. I'm extremely pleased with it.. I better get something good outta this P4. Anyway thanks all for the comments. And Esturk.. nice to see the return of .. Esturk.

That's awesome for temps. My 633@855 runs at around the same temps under load, and that's overvolted to 1.80 volts. It's always reassuring to know your CPU is running somewhat cool.

Thanks cool!Yeah, it's good to be back. I'm trying to be more active now around here. It was so different here in the old days.. It'll never be the same again. However it does seem to be getting better again.

Well your CPU is closer to a P3 than his is to a P4. And mine is closer to a P4 than SzL's.

Well, neither am I, but I might as well say it's a P3, it's overclocked well beyond a P3's level, and internal specs are exactly the same.. so it's more like an OCed P3. I also have it like this so people don't think I'm running a *cough*P4 Celeron*cough*.

Bah.

It's the same, maybe not performance wise in things like games, but for the most part it's on par with the P4 for common tasks(Creative Playcenter, porn, web surfing, media encoding).

In your 2nd shot (black computer) it looks like we have the same HS/F.

edit: we also have the same speakers!

So roomy.

I love your setup man.

I'm cramping on a PC desk with one of those lame roll-out keyboard trays. I hate it. I can't see the "HP" on my keyboard.
