I think some older Eheim pumps are AC, but they're outperformed by newer DC pumps, such as the Laing D5 and DDC (I loved my D5 ). And yeah, the Iwaki pumps are just nuts.

The label on my D5 says 33 watts max (it's a D5 Vario, adjustable speed), so that's not too much power.

Swiftech MC350 with the replacement top here

Small, powerful and nearly completely silent. Not to mention it doesn't dump as much heat into the flow compared to others.

I silenced my D5 Drilling some pilot holes in my case, then filling the oles with foam washers on top of the screws that holds the retention plate. The compressor barrel sits on top of a small square of from (painted black)

Did you open up and clean the CPU heat-sink as well? When I had it opened at the store last week there was literally a 0.7cm thick layer of dust below it......my poor E2160

That's the best thing about AMD CPU. It has four notches on the top and bottom from where you can just pull it off the heatsink.

Intel CPU heatsinks are really bad at this.
When my last P4's fan stopped working I had two choices
1: get a new heatsink
2: cut off the fan and put a new cheap fan on it

I got the second one done.

Things have changed with Intel too, my heat-sink doesn't have any screws either, just 4 clips on each corner.

I just recently dusted out my system as well...it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Broke out the vacuum and dust blower, wiped down some of the parts and all good.

I should really change the water in the system... I'll do it around Christmas
