How am I supposed to respond to "this is better than that"?

Yes, they were your opinion. If you're going to tell me they're really fact, then prove it. Proof is objective, not subjective. That's right, you can't do it.

Look, we can beat this back and forth, and there is evidence for both sides to last this long enough to where it'll never end, but that only proves my point. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I can tell you why I think a CRT looks better (but you didn't have to do so yourself, go figure...), but obviously, you'll just chip back with why you think it doesn't, or why a LCD looks better. Otherwise, you wouldn't have the opinion that you do. It's pointless. Maybe you want to bicker needlessly, and call your opinion fact, all on a subject unrelated to the topic at hand, but I have better things I'd rather do.

And yet here you are. And it's widely accepted that LCDs have better image quality and more vivid color. I doubt most people could deny that with a straight face.

The arguments CRT fanboys have are over resolution and refresh rate. I'd stick to the resolution argument if I were you, because you can't really pick on refresh rate anymore.

You're too smart to argue just to argue. Let's act better like I know you can do, or maybe I'll just have to change my opinion of you.

I'm done with this. It's unrelated to the topic, and you're not just discussing your opinion, but rather shooting mine down, acting egotistical of yours, like your opinion is fact, and just all our arguing for the sake of it a this point. I'll keep this stuff in mind of you when discussing further things which involve you.

LCD are more mainstream, but CRT' are still used for very high end work such as medical imaging and color intensive applications

Valve and several other game companies still use CRT's IIRC.

Okay, back on topic, to try and liven things up a bit, here's a really elite system. Behold, the Dell Dimension 4100...

The CPU is a Pentium III 933MHz. This is the PC I contemplated adding a 1.4GHz Tualatin Pentium III to, but the adapter it requires goes for $50 or more (the CPU itself goes for ~$10-$15 in comparison, so go figure). That's a CPU cooler I added myself. It seems to do a slightly better job than the stock one it came with.

It only has 384MB of RAM right now. It had 512MB (the maximum the Intel 815 chipset can support), but one of the 256MB modules went bad (failed Memtest86 terribly).

The PSU is a Foxconn 200W PSU. These old Foxconn and Delta PSUs were workhorses though. I think it has a whole whopping 6A on the +12V rail (but these older systems had the CPU draw from the 3.3V or 5V rail, not the 12V rail). It's proprietary (notice the 20-pin connector plus to the 6 pin AT connector). If you try plugging a normal ATX PSU in, you'll fry either the PSU, the motherboard, or both. This was the last Dell model to use that messed up idea before they switched to standard ATX PSU and motherboard connections. Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, and some other brands do, however, carry PSUs of the same type that will work. It runs the hardware (plus some) just fine.

The video card is a GeForce 4 Ti4200 with 64MB of DDR RAM. The sound card is a Sound Blaster Live Platinum, and the network adapter is a 3-Com card.

The CPU shroud cover makes the case exhaust fan double as a CPU fan. Alot of Dells do this. It works, but it makes the PSU fan work harder, which makes it really loud. If you remove the shroud, the PSU fan gets almost silent, but then obviously the CPU temperatures go up.

The hard drive is a 20GB Western Digital. It has Windows 98SE on it now, though I have the Windows 2000 Professional OEM disk that is for the system if I ever want that. The 40GB Maxtor (that came from a Dell Optiplex GX270, in which that drive, and the system board, were known to have a high chance and rate of failing) was showing odd behavior.

The CD-Rom drive is a standard one (no DVDs, no CD burning). In fact, it doesn't even always open when you hit the eject button anymore. I have spare ones, but they're all Black, and it's not worth replacing with a new one even over that.

I have another old PC that I just got. Said Dell Optiplex GX270 was given to a friend's friend, since he was having problems with his, and since I suspected it was software issues and not a hardware issue, I asked for the old one (some Compaq Presario from the beginning of the Pentium 4 days) so I could part it out. Wow, was it one of the dustiest things I've seen. In fact, it may have been heat issues due to that.

Did a little adjustment here and there on my little hiatus.

Finally found my LED cathode tube light while I was cleaning out the old house. I'll be sticking that in when I install another hard drive

Why I would NEVER use water cooling; I'm too big of a scatterbrain and... having water that close to things that expensive is just... ick!

No wonder as that right there is a stock Intel CPU cooler, those things hamper fun, you could have had much more fun with a TRUE.

That system must fly Zedeck. Honestly I have yet to encounter anything that was snappier than my P3 866Mhz with 128MB RAM and Riva TNT2 64MB running Windows 98SE, that system had no clue what lag was. Damn I wish I still had it.

Skore, what's the point of a big fan over an airvent which already has fans attached to the other side of it? Surely it hardly helps...or if it does only a degree or 2...

A true is not as sexy as stock cooler. Only real air aficionados know this

And the amount of pure sex emanating from Zedeck's dell is unmeasurable

Here's a few more of my primary system so you can see what the fans look like running (since the other photos had motion detecting turned on that made the fans looked stopped when they weren't). Auto sharpening and all that is off, so they look blurry.

These shots exaggerate a bit how bright and nasty they are. They're really much more subtle, like this (heck if I can take shots to make them look that good though).
