That's no democracy, it depends on one person, that's a dictature or an aristocracy at least

And Kazuya, cool pic man, I can understand the problems it brings though. But seems to me you look pretty succesful though. It's quite different than the look in your avatar btw, that looks a bit scarier than the tiny man in the suit

And Eface, you should make some new pics, I've seen the old ones so many times, I wouldn't hesitate making a nice desktop background out of them just to take all the late night stress away

Anyway, here's some pics from my last trip, I don't feel like making a seperate thread about it, so here they are. Some background info for those who missed the thread or so. Back in March I went to Belgium with 9 other Dutch guys for an international project with students from all over Europe. When drunk I got in contact with lots of people, ended out kissing a girl and well, it kinda turned her life upside down. After the project we got in contact again, mainly through a friend of hers who explained things a bit, and so we started talking on MSN quite a bit. Long story short: Someone's been able to bring out feelings this cold person didn't really remember anymore, so I decided to grab a plane during this May break.

So, the first pic was taken at the Fernhegy Airport, Budapest, when she picked me up. Which was pretty weird of course, she could only add to the confusion by pointing out that this was the first time we were talking in person while sober, which was actually true

So meeting the parents was a pretty scary and weird moment as well. Unlike Plot, I didn't really speak the same language, unless his American is as different to Rae's parents English as my Dutch is to her mother's German. Yes, her mom is a German teacher, so I was glad I at least paid some attention at my previous school, still it was very difficult actually having a conversation after not having spoken German this much for several years. Her dad's English is rather broken as well, though we could have a very basic conv using keywords and a little help from my GF. Yes Raks, I'm happy to read your Engrish again

Well during the week we had we spent lots of time in either Debrecen (where she lives) or Szolnok (where she studies) and just did some basic sightseeing. The best trip without a doubt was with her parents, going to Tokaj. Wine lovers I may not have to explain anything, this is THE Hungarian region for good desert wines. Needless to say we tried a couple of them and they were delicious. We tried to climb the mountain as well, but due to the rain it was way too slippery, but the town itself was beautiful as well.

Unfortunately I had only 10 days to spend with her, and I had to leave last Tuesday, but if there's one thing I'm happy with it's the fact that her parents both welcomed me back for the Summer. Especially in the second half of the holiday things went a lot better as I got used to talking with them, and my German got a bit better as well. I'm glad I'm allowed to visit them again, thinking back of it, I think the fact that I took the effort of visiting their daughter in the first place already won most of their trust

Well, enjoy the pics,
Cheers

Just to show that I had a varied menu rather than eating just one thing.

J/k, it was a great menu we had over there, a 2 person one, had a great night in that restaurant, drinking Belgian beer actually. To us Dutch it's pretty rare that we can get a meal like that for only a few euros, ~€9,- or so. I have to say it's really nice finally being able to go out for dinner and not end up with a large part of your salary being left behind for just a bunch of food. Of course, to the people there it's still expensive, in that respect the trip has also been another eye opener

Food is so very very very expensive in Europe that's true, so I can understand then.

I mean a simple sandwich and a small glass of coke or something like that already comes to around 6 euros when I was last there in 2004. Here in South Africa the same amount in Rand (R60-70) give you like a garlic roll starter, a nice big burger and some fries along with a large glass of Coke, then possily some ice cream afterwards aswell. And with the change you can pay for your parking ticket and get yourself a chocolate bar or something for a midnight snack.

I like cringed every time I took a sip from a glass or took a bite of whatever I was eating whilst I was in Germany. However even with the bad exchange rate I still managed to get quite a few games for WAY cheaper than they would be over here so it was still a great trip.

So if you look at it like that that then yes I can understand where you are coming from and I feel sorry for you.

Those are just pics of Hungary, there are many, many, many beautifull spots all around Europe. It really is the ultimate continent for both architectural and natural beauty.
I have been to Germany 5 times and it's just plain awesome. That's a pic of Hungary but Germany has pretty much the same look in many of it's small towns.

The pics make me homesick...eventhough I am not german by birth or country of residence, I am so by descent and at heart and I long to return to that beautifull country.
