win xp startup screen is a wierd .exe file that has the animation in it. anyone that doesn't have xp can't see it, IIRC

oh, yea, for slimshady or anyone else, sure you can use them. i just made them on my spare time in photoshop 5.5 at school

one more thing, if you want to use these, you have to first convert to .bmp with the same color palatte as the origional (if there is any intrest i can post it here) then rename it to logo.sys.

Yeah...I just figured it out. It's located in your %windowsroot%\system32 folder. It's called ntoskrnl.exe You can change it by going into safe mode and replacing the file. IE - here's a screenshot of one I used:

I huse BootXP to change it. It's nagware, but it works

It looks like that thing allows you to even preview the ani. How does BootXP work? Still have to revert into safe mode?

No, it modifies the boot.ini I think. It seems to dissapear after a while tho.

I also prefer the old method (boot to safe mode). I got my bootscreen <a href="http://www.themexp.org/view.php?type=boot" target="_blank">here</a>
