The hardware requirements are not set in stone. This should be *acceptable* though

At Gekko's present state, no. AMD64's are much better than a Pentium D's even if single core and even they have trouble.
My dual core AMD has trouble even achieving anything noteworthy. Perhaps if Gekko ever gets Dual Core and 64-bit implemented it might one day exceed the speeds possible by the 64-bit version of Dolphin. At present Gamecube emulation is really not worth it and far from complete. You're better off just buying a Gamecube if you don't already own one and whatever game you want to play. It'll likely be a few or more years until Gamecube emulation is up to the level of PS2 emulation currently possible with PCSX2 and even then it might not. Right now the main problems with emulating the Gamecube are sound, core and graphics issues. 99% of first party Nintendo titles don't have sound on Dolphin. If you are interested in following the Gekko development, contributing to the project and possibly test the next beta to help further the development of Gekko I recommend considering becoming an N'sider at the Gekko Website. I or any N'sider are not allowed to post *critical* details relating to Gekko and it's development as such info is only available to N'siders.
