[X360/PS3] All Pro Football 2k8 review (v2)
I hope I did a little better than my last attempt at writing this review.
About All Pro Football 2k8 All pro football 2k8 is 2k sports continuation of thier sports games. However, since EA bought the rights to make NFL video games, 2k decided to try another direction, and in this game there is no longer any NFL teams, but only teams composed of previous NFL legends (Well, 11 legends per team, 11 "Generics".) Tested on Xbox 360, both on my SDTV, and my friends HDTV @ 720P. Gameplay 7/10 For anyone who has played NFL 2k5, you know what the gameplay feels like, however, if you have not, the gameplay of 2k8 tries to be as realistic as possible - although they fail in a few aspects, such as the fact that receivers drop perfect, wide open passes. Although I loved 2k5s gameplay, 2k8 feels too much like 2k5. They should have changed some stuff up a little bit. They did actually change the way kicks work, you have to pull back on the right stick, and push forward in a kicking motion, which is a bit hard to get used to, at least for me. When you start the game, you get the "create your team" menu, where you choose 11 legends to be on your team. You get to choose 2 gold players, 3 silver, and 6 bronze players, gold being best obviously. You can choose any position you want with your legend picks, if you want to pick up 11 good defensive players, and have your offense filled with the "generics", you can choose to do so. Game modes 2k8 has some very limited offline game modes. Only quick game and season. Online has the typical XBL matchmaking features, like quick game and ranked match and such. It also has online season support. Sound (7/10) I play with my cheap-o 5.1 surround. The gameplay sounds are ok, but the commentary is almost the same as 2k5 was. The hits in the game sound real, well, at least the big hits. The problem is, even the small hits sound as if you player got ran over with a monster truck. Also, the music is awful IMO. Graphics (6/10) The graphics for a next gen system are rather disappointing when compared to Madden 07. The player models are decent, but the flat 2d-like ground surface is depressing compared to Madden's lovely looking 3d grass. The stadium designs on the other hand, are kind of cool, so it gets an extra point for that reason. On the other hand, the team logos and names seem really generic. The team customization features are disappointing and lacking as well. There aren't many logo choices, and the uniform editor is lacking as well. Replay Value (7/10) Okay, it's a football game, so no two games can actually be the same. However, with its lacking offline modes, if you don't have Xbox Live, it will get boring, fast. Overall (6.75/10) It's nice to see 2k making another football game, but if they had less of the complaints noted above, it could be so much better. I really would NOT recommend this game. Honestly, I would recommend you to buy NFL 2k5 and download an updated roster. ![]()

Nice review man, definitely more informative than the first version.
Now I'm able to get a good idea of what the game's about. To me this title really seems like something you'd pick out of the budget bin just to get your fix, but definitely not something I'd buy for the full price. Based on that "create your team" mode, it had me wondering whether or not it has all the licenses or not. |

Yeah, I believe its from ESPN's RSS feed or something. Its been in like every sports game since 06. Usually you have to enable it.
