PS3 seems to be starting very slow compared to the Wii only slightly slow start. So right now the Wii looks way better since it actually has games (like... more than one or two that are fun). While the PS3 has yet to show what it can do (they keep on promising awesome stuff, now we just want to see it).

If you want to have fun right now (or in march too with SSBB) go for the Wii.

If you're ready to wait a while and play multiplatform games (GTA, DMC, ect (those will be on PC too tho, depends on if you prefer to play them on PC or console)) while waiting for some good exclusives to (finally) arrive, the PS3 could be better.

My recommendation would be : Buy a Wii now, save money for a PS3 later. With price drops/bigger HDD being released sooner or later, waiting for games may prove even more of a great choice.

judging Metal Gear and Final Fantasy for PS3 then i can say, also i need to play Super Mario Galaxy. If its NEAR good as Masrio64 in its times used to be then its on 1 even but for tech aspects PS3 is just soo gut... although Wiii got Opera Browerser .. but no linux..

This is a dumb question (no offense). We're not you and both of the systems have different style of games tailored to different types of people. Do some research on different game sites and look up the upcoming releases as well as the games that are out and make your choice.

I'd say get Wii now since the price is not going to drop for a while with current demand, and has a number of excellent titles out already. Get a PS3 later down the line when the big exclusive titles finally arrive. Might be cheaper by then too.

Actually on second thought, seeing as how you're a big DBZ fan, getting a Wii might be the way for you to go.

This is crazy but I can't answer to this poll.It smells a fanboy one. Personally I appreciate the two consoles (Now that sony have dropped the ridiculous ps3 price).
The wii offer a great gameplay with the wiimote and got good games.(SM galaxy,SSBB...)
The PS3 has good graphics possibilities and have good games coming (FF 13,MGS4...)
That's why I will surely get a 360.

I have a PS3, I had a Wii but turned it into a Gamecube anyway (which I love dearly). So I vote PS3 (sorry TCOS :>). Wii lacks some hardcore games for me, apart from Zelda, RE4, Metroid 3 and Umbrella Chronicles I haven't found anything which wouldn't be a bunch of minigames. Both Zelda and RE4 are for Cube as well and I can get over Metroid 3 (hardly though :P) and UC

BTW - has anyone noticed that Twilight Princess on Cube is, like mirrored compared to the Wii version? East is west and vice versa. Lol, took me some time to get used to it

Waaaaiiiiittttt a minute... You had a Wii but turned it in for a gamecube that you now use instead...? But... The wii plays GC games so why did you get a GC instead while you could simply have plugged a GC controller in it and play the same games

(anyway, Mario Galaxy isn't really a bunch of Minigames, the only minigames are 3 little things, everything else feels like Mario 64, but with gravity. I don't know about No More Heroes (I know it got mini-games to earn money, but full of it, don't think so) since I couldn't get it still (STUPID UBISOFT, stop delaying it! You released it in english already, how hard is it to send trucks over the frontier? Everybody else but you did it, even barbie games do it faster than you!).)

Anyway, I'm not sure why you'd turn it for a GC to get some money instead? Is it really worth it, I mean, if you had a hard time passing over MP3, what is it gonna be when ever more games that attract you get released? (future zelda/metroid/RE games and else).

@RedLion: the original PS3 price really wasn't that ridicilous, it was pricey but not overpriced if you think what can you get for the price. Especially now that the price has been dropped its actually very good deal if you think that you get a game console and blue-ray player for the same price... You really can't get blue-ray for that price.

But on topic wii doesn't have many games that really interest me as I pretty much hate mario and zelda. Metroid I might be interested to try but I'm no fan of it. For RE4 I could just get the PS2 version. No More Heroes, well let's just say that I don't even know what's it about... Umbrella chronicles is just another arcade zapper so I'll leave it at that. Plus after trying the wiimote at local game store I wasn't too happy.

Then again PS3 I already own and it has many games that I like coming out DMC4, MGS4, FFXIII, GTA5 and the list would go on...

Yeh, I did sell my Wii and got the Cube + some extra cash, some 200 quid :> (which I badly needed at that time and selling PS3 was not an option). Of all things, when I'll hear of next Zelda coming out on Wii I surely consider buying another Wii (me is Zelda fanboy, you know ). RE5 is coming for PS3/X360, Umbrella Cronicles isn't bad, but after you've finished it there's nothing much else to do. SMG is nice, though in my mind I've always seen Mario as gay, hahah and the game itself is a bit infantile for my taste. It was good in NES/SNES times when i was 12, but I can't convince myself to play it on a hardcore level nowadays XD

Yeh, I do weird things - I've had 3 PSPs so far after all

And Cube... As I mentioned before, I'm really in love with this console, it's just like Cid->Dreamcast relationship And my own with Amiga computers

Actually you can get a Blu-ray player in the price of PS3 already, but then again it is only a Blu-ray player, so it's better to buy PS3 anyway. As for RE4... I've played and finished every possible version, starting from Cube and finishing at Wii. The worst port is the PC one, following by PS2, then Cube and Wii version being the best IMO. Capcom deserves getting their butts kicked though for being lazy and not making the FMVs in Separate Ways real time, but simply porting them from PS2 version. Wii version is also the easiest one to play if you play it with Wii remote.

Ridiculous in market terms.Selling a console at a middle range laptop price.Tsssk...Of course it depends of your pocket and priorities. But tell me, you buy a PS3 for blu-ray? In this case I'm wondering how many got an HD-TV(the minimum necessary for justifying a blu-ray device purchase) and what is the part of the blu-ray disc in front of the DVD now.

Well, I got my PS3 for crhistmas present then after new year I bought the HD-ready TV, which was my original plan which I saved my money for... But I bought it for both, playing and for Blue-Ray... It can also play DVD's you know, and I can also watch AVI's(anime) now that I updated the system, PS2 couldn't do that...

Ah...you summed what I was saying, PS3 first price was made for an elite. What I am meaning by elite is people who was seeing the PS3 as more than a gaming system. What exactly you are doing.

But actually, how many people care about the fact PS3 can play AVI's? can play blu-ray discs? How many was ready to pay so much for, at first sight, a console?

That's where Sony made an error, naming it "simply" PS3 and making people considering it for the PS2 simple substitute. And if they hadn't wisely dropped its price, I really doubt the PS3 will have known the success it knows now.

Well, let's say it finally:
-PS3 for gaming to the normal consumer was too expensive.
-PS3 for HD included more spending (HD-TV).
You see the dilemma? That's were Nintendo was wiser.

Quote:

True, but seeing the DVD players price....It is not worth buying a PS3. Either you bought this system for his HD capabilities either you stickied for simple DVDs,largely less expensive.

I'd say you have to look at the kinds of games you want to play.
In the previous generation, I owned all three systems. Initially, I liked the Gamecube, but soon there were games being released for the PS2/XBOX and NOT the Gamecube, which upset me. We're not even talking "overly violent games" like Grand Theft Auto, but retro packs like the Capcom Collections that were released and the Taito Legends packs!

With the Wii, you had better like Nintendo games. Sure there are more games coming out, but there are many games still only out for the PS3/360 that aren't out for the Wii.

With the PS3 you had better want to use the Blu Ray player and owning an HDTV would be a plus as well. I haven't been impressed by either the PS3 or Wii gaming libraries, but I'm not exactly a typical gamer and you may feel differently. Look at video stores and imagine what games you'd want to rent. Look at the gaming stores and think about if you're willing to buy any of the games they sell.

You're looking at spending between $250-$500 and that doesn't include a second controller, memory card, or games. If you have any friends that own the PS3/Wii I'd see about trying them out. If you can rent a system, I'd try that. It's a big investment to buy a console and you don't want to get burned.

You just bought the 4th console of the last generation, just a kind reminder

As for PS3, I'd wait for a new deal before getting one, so you at least get a new controller with it.
