It looks better, but is it me or does that one part look like a Wii? :P

Regardless, it doesn't make the games any better.

I don't really like the bottom (umm.. side?) part being smaller than the other part.

Mind you that this is just a rumor atm, and that's just a mock up not a representation of the actual final design.

Also not to mention I've heard the aforementioned website listed above is not to reputable when it come to news and rumors alike.

Still there is no doubt it might happen a bit down the road, still too soon to be expecting a slim PS3 model considering it took nearly four years before the slim PS2 made an appearance.

I also heard that BD players can now use different lasers to reduce size

i'm 100% certain they will at some point,
sony have made a slim version of every console so far

the psp - psp slim and light (stupidly long name)
ps1 - psone

ps2 - pstwo or ps2 slim, whatever takes your fancy

and they will with ps3 to reduce costs at some point

yeah, but if production starts soon then the ps3 slim seems likely to be released this christmas in japan

last year Sony was stating that christmas (of 2007) was irrelevant
and that next christmas (of 2008) was when ps3 will be making it's most important impact

that sounds like a slim model to me

maybe the rest of the world will get it next summer?

Thats a poorly done fake CGI concept rendering IMHO. The dvd/bd disk in the rendered image is upside down with the data side facing toward the top of the ps3 if it was layed horizontally. I don't think a sony CGI rendered concept shot image would have that mistake.
Unless of course thats the Soviet Russia version.

Your not going to place the ps3 on the curved top side with the ps3 logo facing downward.

And if your thinking well maybe they are going to make a vertical standing only system( as the the 2 PS3 logo in this image is written along the width of the system instead of the length) thats another mark against the authenticity of image, and you are wrong.
