Wich Model Of Playstation 2 Is The Best One?

Hello, I want to buy the playstation 2, and wanted to know which is the best model, because I read in wikipedia that each model has some problem (the last model has low compatibility in the games of psone and some games of ps2 do not work). I wait for its answers

How do you play your PSOne games? Do you have a PSX/PSOne already or have you chosen emulator?

Of course, if there is problems with PS2 games with latest model, you should consider that, too. If earlier version has much better compatibility, you should go for it.

I'm not an expert, so let's wait what others will say.

Playstation 2??? Are you sure you don't mean 3? At least I don't know of un-compatability problems with PS2 for PSX games... But the PS3 has problems with PS2 games so I'm just wondering if you somehow made a mistake.

I was wondering that, too. Just wandering and Googling... Wikipedia claims that there are compatibility issues in some models of PS2:

PlayStation 2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Of course, this information can be wrong.

Pfff, never knew that... Okay forget my earlier post, was misinformed. But reading that fast it seemed that first versions had problems with laser lenses, but I guess they mean the ancient versions already dusting in museums or smt. But the newer versions have different sets of chips and that seems to cause problems, read more from the page it was rather techinilogical stuff. But I read this all just from the wiki page titus gave so thank him... Just wanted to correct my own mistakes

Thanks guys for reply , I use for psone the emulators, and the pcsx2 emu for playstation 2 is too slow for my pc. Then the older models of ps2 are best that the new models (I talk about the compatibility)?. In my country the playstation 3 are TOO expensive. The ps2 is a bad console for buy? (In my house i have only the sega genesis, now is time to change )

We still have our old faithful SCPH-30001 model pretty much V5/ V6. It has the original case design, still has the I-Link port, plays dual layer discs no prob, and is 7 years old and still playing strong.

Consider one if you can find it

I cant remember the model # but its def the last of the bigger models that features quiet/silent dvd drive

Ive owned three ps2's and that one above had the fastest and quietest loading, and was really nice not hearing it tick with dirty disks

To counterbalance the benefits of the larger ps2s, the slims ones are the ones with the built in network adapters.

Not sure what use it'll be now that almost all ps2 game servers have closed though.

Metal Gear Solid VR Missions doesn't work on a fat ps2, apparently other swap disk games don't either, not sure about the slim.

Ah, well, I hope that play 2 that I buy, is not broken fast and lasts long time. Another doubt, the slim have problems with compatibility with ps2 games?

Paratech, that model is of the ps2 slim, no?, any problem with that model? (I believe that it is the last version of ps2 that Sony put to the market)

That is what I was asking, how are they, mine seems fine, but I was curious about other people's experiences.

Yeah I was late to the party!
