We already have too many FF:CC coming, and we already had serious rpg on nintendo console, both the gamecube had a few (Baiten Kaitos?) and the DS had many.

And more than anything, if there's something we should realize is that we can't use the past to under-mine the Wii potential titles.

The Wii is having a lot more support from third-parties than the 64/GC had, just because past consoles lacked third party support doesn't mean that 'nintendo console' won't receive any serious rpg.

That is quite possible, but I'm not sure they would say "rpg fans" in that case, they would go more along the line of "nintendo fans" or "adventure fans". A real rpg Zelda tho could be a possibility, even tho the last one was quite horrendous, I suppose enough time has passed that they can try and do a better one.

as i said, nintendo refers to zelda as rpg-game.
when asked why zelda twilight princess sold so horribly bad miyamoto answered that he thinks the time for large rpg-games is over
and what wii support please? now im superhappy with every nintendo title that comes out, they make owning the system truly worth it, however, third party support is next to none. numbers dont count to me, what counts is the games i really want to have and as far as that goes third party support on the wii is non existent.
mario and sonic at the olympics my ass

They do refer to it as RPG, but it doesnt mean that if they were announcing a next Zelda, I kinda doubt they would say "rpg fans rejoice".

And Wii does have more support, they don't in games CURRENTLY released since the support came a little late (many studios openly said that they thought at first the Wii would bomb but that they were wrong and would give better support in the future) but if you look at games TO COME instead, you can see that third party support is a lot better.
(there's at least 8 games not made by Nintendo to come in the next 6 months (only, would be more if we look farther) that I think are worth a shot, important games, not "My horse and me" games)

When did Nintendo Brazil confirm it? Is there a link or something? Google won't give me satisfactory results.

If I had to place my bets on something, it would be the Camelot RPG that has been rumored for quite a long time now. Golden Sun 2 maybe? On a side note, if anyone knows how, please search for recently copyrighted names that could potentially be used for an RPG. That's how Sonic Chronicles was "discovered" a week or something before its official announcement.

Hold a sec. Does the cover featured in your screenshot (which by the way DID NOT NEED to include 60% of your background ) belong to the issue in which that "revelation" is... revealed? Because it says "Nintendo Power - January" in your original post at the start of this thread, and it is already known that the next issue (ie. the February one) features Sonic Chronicles, which can fit the "...an RPG so fantastic, so engrossing, so epic, and so hush-hush..." description given.

Somehow, I now firmly believe that we got hyped ourselves too much over something already known.
The RPG is none other than Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.

-=Edit=-
ShadowDancer said it before me...

It's not Sonic, Dark Mits. And it is a fact.

But, now, looking again at Nintendo Brazil website. It's not written that the RPG is for Wii.... but the article is in the Wii News section... mysterious.

No, it was already said that the game was NOT Sonic Chronicles, look earlier

I think the January edition said that it was a game for the Wii, which will be revealed next month. But it doesnt mean it will be Sonic because of this.

I certainly hope it's not the Sonic one, because in that case there'll be 2 great RPGs I'll be rooting for! ^-^
It's that there are some points that do not tie well, like the January and next month point. And that they (Nintendo Power) are featuring a great RPG in one issue (as the cover nonetheless) and at the same time mentioning another super-great RPG for their next issue. Not impossible, just a bit weird.

I'll play it safe so that I don't get too excited only to have my hopes crushed because it was not what I expected. Golden Sun 2... Skies of Arcadia 2... Unreachable dreams or forthcoming realities?

I did before posting my previous... post. That does not mean that it is 100% accurate though. We are prone to errors since we are humans.

So if it is going to be revealed in the next month according to that issue, then it has to be in the February one, correct? A couple (or maybe even more) people who subscribe to it already have the February issue (wow, and we're still in the first half of January!). They would have come accross such info, wouldn't they? I doubt that if there is going to be a super-cool RPG it got overshadowed by Sonic Chronicles; it just can't! Someone would have revealed it!

However, I just got a better look of the cover at Neogaf (I have a link some posts before this one). At the top it has Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the Wii. Could it be this? If you look at the bottom it says Square Enix's The World Ends With You. What about that one?

Are you sure peoples already have had the issue of February? I really really really doubt it, because if that were true, people would have had the January edition back in December, and if that's true, how come it's only NOW that people realize what has been written about a rpg to be revealed in the next edition?

I've made a search and couldnt find anything about the edition of february 2008, every search point out to news talking about the edition of january only. And all those news date of 12-13 january, none in december.

So either Nintendo Power is releasing two editions (january/february?) at the same time in January, or you're wrong about February being released already.

The game hasnt been announced yet, so it's pointless to search for it. The edition of January talk about the Sonic RPG made by Bioware and next month edition will announce the new RPG (that the thread talks about), that's all there is to it.

(I think you mixed up Sonic RPG being announced in the same edition that the Big RPG is supposed to be announced in)

I received my Jan Game Informer in Dec, that's quite common for magazines, when you're a subscriber. I receive my GI around the 2X of the month, so near Christmas, I received the January edition, in a week or two, I'll receive the Feb issue. I think this is common with most magazines.

Thanakil is right. It will be announced in February. And the edition of February is NOT out yet. That's why it's called "February Edition". It'll be released in 15-20 days.

Early yes, but not THAT early, we're only at the MIDDLE of January yet. Which is why I really doubt people have the Feb edition.

In one week or two would make sense tho, and I kinda wish it's true because I'm hungry for more informations.
