No Halo 3 thread, yet? Wow...
Anyway, you're welcome to give your two cents about this "revolutionary" and "ground-breaking" new title.
Mine go like this: Overhyped, a lot, but still decent. From what I've seen and not having actually played it Halo 3 is a nice FPS, no doubt. However, it certainly doesn't qualify as a Next-Gen game from a graphical point of view! Sorry, but this game offers nothing we haven't already seen in Unreal 2. Now, let's add some Doom3 or Quake4 shader effects and you have Halo 3. Don't even start bringing up Far Cry, let alone Crysis or Bioshock! Alright, and now start flaming

for a console shooter series its good but yes it is extremely overrated imo. way too repetitive.

But as for the gfx, let's be honest . It does qualify as next-gen from a gfx point of view, comparing it to any xbox 1 game will show that the game is definitly over that.Far Cry 1 is definitly under Halo3, Far Cry 2 is definitly over H3, but at the same time, FC2 is far from being released and is only shown for PC. Crysis is for PCs with awesome computer, you can't compare that to a 360 game =/. The only way possible to compare Bioshock and Crysis would be if they ported Crysis to the 360 or PS3. And as for Bioshock : Bioshock is a indoor games, indoor games always look better than a game made with a lots of outdoor environnement like Halo3. And from what I can see from the Screenshots, while SS arent the best way to judge a game, it seems like Halo 3 characters models are better in average than Bioshock, but environnement and weapons are better in Bio. Anyway, the game is definitly overhyped, but I suppose it can still be fun, as far as gfx game, it looks good, especially for a game with huge environnement on a console, but it aint anything groundbreaking, still, not calling it a next-gen game would be pushing it. Would deserve a 8/10 for gfx I'd say, fair enough for a next-gen. |

Regarding Far Cry, I have to say that even though it lacks a little on the indoor levels, its outdoor areas are absolutely amazing. From what I've seen Halo 3 outdoor maps look a little like the Onslaught maps in UT2004 and we both know that the Xbox360 should be capable of doing more than that. On the other hand, the character models look pretty good in comparison to the pretty dull landscapes.

i don't know what's the deal with the hype about this... or any other HALO series... I've played the 1st and 2nd part... The main character ... very deep.. and hey another FPS for the Microsoft console... Hard to call this a console anymore. Just my opinion here...

Halo 1 was great, it was like Goldeneye, completely revived the console FPS series. Halo 2 was all right...but it was just Halo 1 with a little face lift and didn't feel like a great sequel...probably why I haven't actually beaten it yet.

Xbox/360 is the only console that does FPS decently IMO. I love laying back and playing with the wireless 360 controller, especially with a couple friends. And 360 has actually had a couple RPGs, and some other decent non-fps games.

Yeah, but playing on the pc isn't as fun as kick back on the couch playing with a few friends.

I'm not really a huge fan of face paced FPSes usually, mostly because I am always tired when I get around to playing video games.

Well, the main problem is how slow it is to move around the "cursor" or to simply put it, look around.
Games developed for the 360 or well, any console, who then get ported quite fast on PC usually are a pain in the ass to play since the X and Y speed is usually quite low, the best example would be the Halo games, who on PC really feel frikin slow when you move around compared to any games. Some games manage to be slow-paced but still fun and don't feel crippled, like Bioshock managed to do. Dunno if they did better with Halo 3, could be. |

Halo 3 is way overhyped I just the first 3 levels and they're pretty drawn out and can get pretty boring. Overall Bioshock is the better game. Ever since the success of halo 1, 2+3 have more been focused on online multiplayer than story mode.

Halo 3 is what I'd call a total disaster of a video game. Quite honestly, if you call the graphics of the game "next-gen", then I bet you've never seen Resistance: FOM on the PS3. Even Resistance looks better... imo... *cough*
Visual aside, it's the exact same game. No improvement whatsoever. It's Halo. Done. Deal. Hyped or not, I am REALLY regretting ever taking the time to get this game. Wonder if eBay it will help...?

Alright, let's be serious about how that game isnt ''next-gen''
Sixth generation graphic, what was one of the best gfx of that generation with many 9/10 at gfx, let's see Halo 2 to compare it to the now Halo 3: Halo 2 : http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen015.jpg http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen022.jpg http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen029.jpg http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen034.jpg Awesome environnement, right? And what about all the light and shadow effects! Amazing... Let's take a look at Halo 3 : http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen020.jpg http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen026.jpg http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen040.jpg http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen061.jpg Is the game ''OMG BEAUTIFUL'' ? Nope, it's not. Is the game ''pfff, not next-gen''? Would be a lie to say that. The game is definitly over the 6th gen, the game is definitly part of the seventh gen. Was it hyped too much? Yes. Is the game worth that hype? Nope. But the game still is worth between 7 to 8 on 10 for gfx. Crisper textures, a LOT more environnements to make the space around the player less empty, LOT more lightning and shadow effects. Not deserving of the hype around the gfx of the game, and with a gameplay who doesnt innovate at all, the game shouldnt be hyped that much but hey, hype happens all the time. In fact, we got no idea about 70%+ of games like Devil May Cry 4, FFXIII, Gears of War 2, the next zelda who will eventually be made. But all these games are/will be hyped, a lot. That's how it goes. Just because a game is hyped doesnt mean we should try to balance it by being hateful. Last edited by Thanakil; September 26th, 2007 at 02:56. |

All that matters at the end of the day is that you feel you got your money out of the game you buy, if that's true, other people's opinion is meaningless. But I'm not going to go to a store at midnight and fight a crowd to get a freaking game, nor spend over $100 for a helmet with the game.
