What's the longest time it took you to beat a game?

I 'finally' beat Tekken Tag tonight! *PS2*, granted I had to use 1 continue on the boss, so I still have the goal of beating it on one credit, but it took a long time to finally beat the final boss.

I purchased my PS2 back in March 2005, but I haven't played Tekken Tag that often, perhaps a few times a month. I'm not going to trade it in, I still intend to play it, even after I beat it on one credit, I'll try different characters.

It was just a thrill to finally beat the game, I haven't been so happy since I beat Capcom vs SNK in the arcade on one credit, or Capcom vs SNK 2 on the XBOX on one credit, including a difficult fight with Geese!

I was just curious if any other gamers here had a game for over a year before they beat it, and if they kept the game after beating it?

i usually take much longer than the average gamer to beat something since i have the bad habit of playing too many games at once. ill start one, suddenly stop and play something else, start playing it again, take a stupidly long amount of time trying to remember what i was doing or what i had done before i stopped, and finally take even longer to beat it after i remember.

I barely ever even complete games. I find them boring after a couple hours usually. Multiplayer FTW.

I think it was F-15 Strike Eagle, a flight simulator by Micropose for the NES. I bought it back in the 1989 (one of the first games I had) but because it was insanely difficult to meet all the requirements to finished the game, coupled with intuitive but difficult to master controls (and the fact that I was 5 years old back when my parents bough it) it wasn't till 1997 or so that I finished it.

So that's a whole 8 years. yay.

Took me 1 week to finish Jade Empire SD, other week for RE4. Those are the few games that motivated me to finish it with nice storyline. The rest I just never have time to finish it.

Its more like couple of play and got bored : (

Super Mario Bros. I use to play it when I was younger maybe 5 or 6, I didn't finish it until I picked up a copy of it 11 years later and finished it in my second sitting.

It usually takes me a few months to finish a RPG as I play too many games on the side.

Monster Rancher, Monster Rancher 2, Digimon, Digimon 2, Digimon 3. Ditto, but i've always liked games where you could raise your own little monster to be the strongest there is. I clocked more than 99 hours into this games.

Wizardry 8 on hardest setting..... it took me years to finish. I wanted to try ironman mode... but after playing for some months.. and get killed by a bunch of bloody UNICORNS.. gameover... I just gave up beating it on ironmen ( if you die.. your screwed )

I also tried beating it with a single fairy.... but it was just too hard for me!

I beat FFX clocked at 240+ hours to make a better Sphere Grid for max stats only to learn in the end that Yu Yevon is the easiest final boss even without godly stats. I can't believed I wasted my time on that just to beat the game lol.

its been several years since i started Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS, never beat it. I mentioned before about how it felt like i was doing everything wrong, even when I was taking everything into account. So I just quit playing it. Someday soon i'm gonna pick it up and just play it. Not gonna over think anything, just play for fun and see how far i get.

SSBM, unlocking everything I could, played for a hella long time.

But the one game on which I think I invested the more time, or at least, the game that made me felt like I truly had to work for the achievements I got, I think it would be F-Zero GX, I didnt play it for a LOOONNNGG time, but I completed devoted myself to it for days on end, even tho I would usually give up for a few hours on a game when I would hit a wall, I simply would keep on trying with Fzero GX, no matter how unfair I tought it was sometime how the pc would rape me.

Now if only I could be like that with something that actually matter...

Baldr Force Exe.

I know I put 90+ hours in FF7, but with Baldr Force Exe (Dreamcast) I put in over 40 hours and I still have two or three storylines to play. After that, there's some unlockable bonus modes. It's easily the longest game I have, though unfortunately I haven't played it in ages.

that game takes a while to get good at, at least in some parts. first time i played it i kept setting the thing to do the auto battle mode because i didnt really understand how to do the battles, but i caught on pretty well afterwards. the game is fun as hell though.
