Will this specs play Jade Empire: Special Edition?

I'm contemplating whether or not to buy Jade Empire: Special Edition. I saw the gameplay video on gamestop.com and thought it was cool. However, I wanted to know your opinion on my machine specs and the playability factor where Jade Empire: Special Edition is involved. I've been able to play games like Dungeon Siege 2, Obscure 2, Far Cry at high settings with fast FPS..Thanks

ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200M (256MB)

i guess yes, the game uses shader model 2 so ur gfx card should handle it
but dont get your hopes high because the game itself is lame ,ultra lame fighting.
I personally didnt like it. the movement is so stupid u can see the game sux as soon as grab ur controller and start playing

avoid it if my advice counts

Yeah, but from the video I saw on gamespot, the graphics looks pretty good (I'm a big fan of good graphics), and the game seems to have an engaging plot (storyline), plus the player upgrading system looks ok

The minimium specs are: Pentium IV 1,8 GHz, 512 MB RAM, GeForce 6200 or ATI 9500 (Shader Model 2.0 required), 8 GB HDD, Windows XP SP1, so it should run on your laptop (not sure about your GPU, though).

I played this game on Xbox and found it quite good. It has a very good plot, battle system is pretty decent too. If you like jRPG games you'll like this one too.

I'm a big RPG fan, that's one of the first reasons why I'm attracted to the game....my GPU supports Shader Model 2.0

It's alright. Not one of Bioware's best offerings but it's a good WRPG which should keep you occupied for a decent amount of time. My friend has it and he loved it but that doesn't say much since he is a sucker for WRPG's.

The only good thing about the grafix is the bloom otherwise the models are lame and the game looks like a xbox game and that is week

Maybe because it IS the Xbox game to begin with and PC version is just a port?

I bought it just last friday and have been playing it for 4 hours now. Personally I really enjoy this game, but it has its flaws. Now I know it's an Xbox port, and I'm not complaining about that, in fact, I love the art direction and it looks great with some AA turned on. One problem is that ATi users can't use AA and Soft Shadows at the same time, again lousy coding from the developers' side.

As for gameplay, the one thing I truly hate and which has gotten me killed more than once are these invisible walls during battles. You want to step back, thinking you're in a large hallway, and suddenly you find yourself cornered to an invisible wall, how lame is that?

Also, the camera moves to an almost first person position when against a wall, even if it's an invisible one, further helping you getting yourself killed. Apart from these to major flaws, I find its fighting enjoyable, especially once you get the hang of things. For once I'm glad they didn't make it overly complicated.

It's hard for me to compare things, mainly because of your GPU, my system is being held back by Vsync and I get a constant 85 FPS. I can't install it on the other PC in the house, because it only has a 9200SE, which is PS1.4 limited.

I know there's a setting in the INI file to force a lower shader model than 2.0, which might speed up things, but I really have no clue if that would make it work on your IGP.

Also, no patch was released, and there won't be anyone either.

I loved this game, played it some time ago on my pc.
Looked great, really like the japanese art, felt a little like Kotor with with it's light and dark side.
the space ship minigame is simple and good.

:O, I thought this game was locked at 30 FPS??!?

I think it is biowares best game, the setting and graphics is great, the battle system is not great, but better than any other Bioware game ( you play the fights instead of watching a movie :P ) you have to put up a hard setting for it to be good though otherwise too easy.

It also has some good voice acting John Cleese is in IT!!!!! and some good traditional chinese music.. and it looks much better on PC with softshadows and AA turned on. I forced AF as well.

Anyway maybe you can buy it and return it if it doesn't run??

I have the same GPU in my lappy, and its not very good at all. I don't think it's as good as the 6200.

Yeah, it was locked, until you edited ClampFPS=1 to =0 in the Ini file.

Anyway, I can't agree with you saying it's Bioware's best game, this game can't hold a candle to Baldur's Gate 2, then again, no game can anyway

And WTF, I was looking at the voice actors list this morning, and I did see Cam Clarke, never did I notice John Cleese was right underneath it, shame on me. Now I'll be looking out for a character doing funny walks for the rest of the game

Anyway, I can't make use of SoftShadows because of it not being compatible with AA on ATi cards. Not too much of a biggie, but a shame though. Forced AF doesn't work for me, at least not through ATi Tray Tools

he plays "Sir Roderick Ponce von Fontlebottom the Magnificent Bastard"
how fitting for a comic actor of his magnitude
