Can a Super Cobra gun work on a Playstation 2?

I purchased a Super Cobra gun today, it's supposed to work for any PS1 games, but I haven't been able to get it to work with Time Crisis or Lethal Enforcers I & II.

I was hoping maybe someone here could help me figure out if the gun is defective or if it just won't work on my PS2?

I had it hooked up via the plugin to the TV and the setting to Guncon, but it didn't work with Time Crisis, I tried hooking it into the controller port and non guncon and ran it with Lethal Enforcers and it didn't work.

What could I be doing wrong?
