New development: Oh Em Gee...

Something that has been discussed to death and back: FF7 remake. This time, the rumors are started by Square-Enix themselves.
Remember the secret clip at the end of Crisis Core that we discovered not so long ago? Well... how about a book that comes with the Collector's Edition of the game?

FF7 remake clue?

I'd think that Square-Enix is really considering a remake of FF7 at this point.

Well, anyway, fire away, be it flames, disappointments, rants, etc... whatever. Or just simply give your speculation?

Edit: It's-a-sparkin'!

1UP says Crisis Core not last FF7 game

I can almost see the flames-a-comin'...

Newer development:
Endless Crisis: Final Fantasy VII.

Square-Enix to reveal Endless Crisis: Final Fantasy VII at TGS07?

Oh dear god... the friggin' plot twist! So dramatic! *dies*

(Seriously, I think they were forced to make the game rather than interested in making it)

Endless Crisis? Kinda lame as far as a name goes...

They shoudla used the ''Eternal Curse'' name that came back years ago as a Fake not only was the name better, but it would have been a great way to confuse the fans on weither or not it's a joke.

Anyway, I still don't think it really is a FF7 remake, the video at the end of FF7 : CC is still only the starting sequence of FF7, which make sense to be at the end of FF7 : CC, not a clue here.

What they say in the manual of FF7 : CC can be a clue, but a clue to a new FF7 game, not to a FF7 remake itself.

I really hope they do anything except a remake of FF7, we already have a FF7 game, make something else.

It is most likely leading to a remake of FF7... seeing as to how all of clues just lead back to FF7, and not a new game. Like I said, it's either they remake it, or re-release FF7 on PSN (or if they are crazy enough, re-release the game for PC and PS1?), which won't happen since not that many people have PS3s, not that many people would replay FF7 in its PS1 form except for those who have played it, not that many of the kids would be interested in the game, etc... remaking FF7 is the only way they can visit FF7 again. With a such a huge demand, the game will guarantee them quite an amount of sale, so there's no reason for them to not remake it.

they could add ffvii+ac+extras story in this game (or even cc+ffvii+ac+extra) XD that would be good and make it not a simple remake (if is really a remake)

Well, adding CC story could make a little sense in flashback, AC not that much... The worst thing with AC was how the story mainly focused on Cloud, and how the fights were quite often one character against another/three, only when Bahamut (or was it not him? Don't really matter now) came, where all of the old characters suddenly came back to fight him, and then all became background characters again without doing anything important.

If they do a remake, the only good thing they could add to make it a WORTHWHILE remake would be to add the stuff that we can learn from the various artbook, the stuff that we couldnt learn from the game but that we WISHED we did.

Squaresoft left a few plotholes and pending questions or stuff that made us go ''eh? But what happened over there?'', now most of this stuff can be found easily now, but if we play only the game without looking on the net, then adding this stuff into a remake could be nice.

My only wish is that they don't make it a ''FLYING DRAGONS!'' remake with the CG, while the chars did jump higher than normal, they arent supposed to walk on leaves and stuff, well, Sephirot DO actually since he's dead and projecting his image from the lifestream, but he's the exception to confirm the rule.

Stronger than normal characters? Yeah. Superman? Hhhmmm no. This is kinda like the ''Hollywood'' stuff except from Japan... In Hollywood action movies a car will blow up from a single bullet, a hero will dodge 2000 bullets and his hairstyle is still perfect.

The Japan version of that is Martial Artist flying in the air, striking poses, going ''KICK OF THE FLYING DRAGON'' and jumping on rooftop.

Nobody else jumped higher than a building. Cloud was pushed up by his comrades. And to confirm your next theory: Barrett had to be carried by Cloud over to another place when the buildings fell on him, Yuffie ran on the wall but she could not run all the way to the top. Vincent had to jump around on Bahamut's body. Cloud had to utilize his swords as a way to jump up higher, both in the Forbidden City and in Midgar. Sephiroth, Kadaj, Yazu and Loz are the ones who can actually "fly" in the movie. Get off your high horse and go watch it again. I know a lot of people will be in denial and reject the movie when...

1) Aeris (Aerith) is still freaking dead!
2) Zack is not shown.
3) Cloud doesn't ever say who he loves.
4) You see an emo blond guy for the entire movie... and then at the credit, you see him again, alone!
5) FF7 official ends! Sephiroth is gone, Cloud finally smiled.

I mean... c' mon. It wasn't that bad for a movie. They cut a lot of stuffs out, and it still at least concludes the story. It did not "dirty" or "ashame" the image of FF7 like most people would say. It just doesn't satisfy fans' needs for something new from a GAME, as it is a MOVIE, but hey, nothing is perfect!

Really? Then Cloud's bike is insanely sturdy then. It did not explode after taking so many hits. Plus... Cloud's hair NEVER changed no matter what was happening around. But ehh... confirm somebody's hair ever changed in any Final Fantasy due to any kind of effect, and I will give up. And how do you know that did NOT HAPPEN in the original game? Remember how big Ultimate Weapon, Emerald Weapon, and Ruby Weapon were? Remember how your party can kick their asses... with only three members that are not even 1/10 the size of those things? How do you explain that then? And remember how you can breed chickens that can go through any kind of terrain...? And remember how you can call up a dragon that is comparable to the size of a planet... just to hit a very small area...? And you were not affected by that? I swear... compare to those ridiculous things, this movie is still real enough.

Oh come on, Cloud did jump higher than a building, look at the fight with sephirot he definitly jump higher than a building, he jump back to the building from where Kadaj and him jump off before he transforms, Sephirot first go up, and then cloud follow him, while, in the air, cutting through block of concretes.

I said that this was what HOLLYWOOD movies did I said the FF games were going the way of the ''japan'' hollywood, not the USA hollywood way . Characters in FF have hairs that only move to the wind in CG tho, when it's in-game they are pretty much fixed. This is probably gonna change with FFXIII with cloth-simulation to make Hairs/Clothes move.

AC was about how cloud could play lego with his swords to be awesome all the time.

I will admit I liked the new omnislash with all the little swords tho, that was a nice touch.

At that part, Cloud's attack was stopped by Sephiroth's sword, and then Sephiroth slashed cloud back. (Sound effects!!) Then Cloud barely landed, only to see Sephiroth flew all the way up there to greet him again. I have watched that part over and over for 10 times now. If you are talking about the part where Cloud followed Sephiroth up the Midgar tower, however, something was cut out of that part, obviously. Sephiroth landed on the tower... and then the next instance, Cloud slashed Sephiroth... in the air. Now if that wasn't cut, it's that Sephiroth's shadow moved on ahead.

Cloud's hair moved slightly to the wind, so did other characters'... but their hairstyle never changed no matter what.

Actually, they move into a building before jumping back on top.

They start dashing between pillars inside the buildings, fight in there, while fighting cloud actually hold in the air for a while, the only thing keeping him ''flying'' being the slashes between their swords (he possibly have his foot on the wall to keep him from being slashed away), that part isnt the worst.

But once they leave, Cloud DO jump UP the building where he and kadaj came from.

Sephirot jumps/fly up top first, saying things like ''I thought I'd give you a gift/present/whatever'' and then start slashing part of the building as he keep on going up, and then Cloud slash them in half to go through them.

Cloud attack being stopped and then slashed back happen a while before that, since this part happen after the indoor/pillars-fight. And he TOTALLY jump/fly all the way.

I still don't like how Cloud mainly fought the 3 brothers alone at the same time, and how every other characters of the party was useless (Tifa being badly wasted, everybody barely scratching Bahamut, the only good thing they did was being a placeholder for a trampoline).

Anyway, I wouldnt trust S-E with a Remake of FF7, especially not when I remember what the hell they said when FFX-2 was released...

''Can you tell us more about the world of FFX?''
''Oh yeah, the world in FFX/FFX-2 is actually the same world as FFVII!''

While I can see the link between peoples dying and the green lights and all... I don't trust them, not after FFX-2, not after the games they've been released lately, not after FFVII : AC.

If they wanna make another spin-off, go for it, but a remake? They'll fail.

It's like you are not seeing anything else after FFVII. But can't blame you. After FFVII, a few people left Squaresoft for Namco and other companies... and then to survive, Squaresoft merged with Enix. Key members are no longer there, project files lost, no prior data but the finished game, that's why they need a remake.

Can't say that, I did quote infos from FFX/FFX-2, didnt I?

I loved 8 and liked 9, FFX wasnt too bad, but something felt wrong (probably Tidus talking to himself, annoying as hell), FFXII wasnt as good as it should have been. The snes FF were fun too.

FF tactics were all very fun, never tried the chocobo races games. Tried Dirge of Cerberus which was... Different, and will give a try to CC once it comes out.

I'm simply saying, if they keep on going the same way they went for AC, a remake would be horrible .

And I'd be less critical about a remake if Square-Enix wasnt retconning the original story of FF7...
