Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Got my hands on the game.
First impression: Mmm... kinda good. It feels a lot like Kingdom Hearts for some reason...

It is mix of KH and a bit of Dirge. If you ask me the randomness of the slot machine kind of makes it a little harder to pull of limit breaks and summons. Also way too much eye candy, but hey no one is the master of CG than Square

The slot machine is both useful and painful...
For one, you can keep on using magic and abilities without having to worry about running out of MP or AP... and two, when your HP is low enough, they pull off limit breaks almost every time you attack. But when you are at full health, almost nothing happens.Anyway, it's a pretty solid game... looking all pretty for a PSP title... and the dialogues are pretty well-planned. My only complain would be that the musical scores don't really sound like what they used to be... in the original FF7 game. I think I like those music more. P.S.: Oh, and it's not like Dirge. Dirge doesn't even look half as pretty... and in Dirge, enemies don't pop out of nowhere like in this game. Heck... I was fighting Ifrit even before I knew what the heck he was...

Well Dirge is what I say when they combine over the top graphics (you see Zacks pull of these amazing stunts), then you have Zacks (gameplay wise) with limited move set as compared to the CG
. Other than that yes it is a good game overall.

I got my hand on it too. It's like a glue, can't let my hand off from PSP. Btw, I kinda confuse with DMW thing. How to use it? When 3 characters pic up, I only bashing all the buttons.

Well there is a factor of luck involve (randomness). If you want to do a summon you will have to get a mind synch (the modulation) then you will have a chance to get a summon slot and hopefully pull one off. It takes time to get use to it, but I am sure later in the game there is a way to slow it down or make it easier to pull it off.

Hmm... FFVII : CC both appeal to me and scare me...
Seems like they strayed so far from what FFVII was about... First we got the ''OVER THE TOP'' fights of FFVII : AC, with Cloud and everybody else flying everywhere, destroying random boulders of concretes falling from buildings... And now it seems like it's the same with Zack, who jumps/fly, get shoot at by 20 soldiers with none of them hitting him (and huh, he wasnt even trying to dodge the goddamn bullet, only standing on top of the train?) and then killing them, and jumping down the train once at destination (oh well, gravity is finally back!) and then striking a pose for nobody in particuliar except the camera... Yeah... I dunno, seems like it could be a really nice game, but I'm only scared of how its looking out to be a advent children but as a game for the PSP... If any of you is far in the story, can you only say if the feeling from the game is similar to FF7, or if they made it more similar to the new ''FF7, UPGRADED AND IMPROVED FOR JOO!'' that they used for AC, DC? (not that I disliked DC, simply... Well... Wasnt really similar to the feeling of FF7 either). Don't have to tell the story or what happened, simply say what's the feeling it gives. |

I also like how this doesn't become yet another button smasher... because as you progress further, your opponent becomes stronger, and they have more deadly attacks that you need to run away to dodge. I just STRICTLY limit my use of magic... since magic deals like 3x as much damage and most of the time, you end a battle sooner than expected, thus missing out on a few cool things... like the first battle with Ifrit, he had his own FMV for his signature attack... which we could then see again when we summon him... but ehh... it takes eons to summon him. ![]() P.S.: Got to see Bahamut last night... and dear god... now THAT's awesome!

OK I'm stuck, I'm in the room with the two guards and some computer terminal, the guard blocking the door won't let me past, the terminal does nothing and the other guard I think is telling me to press triangle which brings up the menu, what am I supposed to do??
*edit* never mind, I figured it out. This game is great btw. love the combat, it's like kingdom hearts but much better and the graphics are unreal for PSP, even better is the fact there's no slowdown whatsoever even on 222mhz. Can't wait to play in english!

The text under Cloud's name reads Soldier Class 1st.
![]() Anyway, it's not a teaser of any sort. Almost anybody who bought this game would know it's a prequel. I think it is more like... the same clip that they showed as the PS3's tech demo.

While Tifa and Cid had some pretty flyish moves, they werent COMPLETELY defying gravity CONSTANTLY like AC did, characters in AC dont need to use ladders or ropes, they can jump on top of a freakin building like its easy (Cloud and sephirot fight is the best way to show it).
In FF7, the best way to show that gravity definitly exist IMO would be when you need to climb a big wall, use batteries to activate various fans/wheels and ect (you guys remember? it was near the part where Tifa/Aeris/Cloud get to play the bimbo of a big/rich pervert guy). In AC, cloud would simply run up the wall and jump all around, while if FF7, he needs to imitate tarzan with a cable to go from one side to another, even if the hole is small. Anyway, I've only seen the FMV at the start of the game where Zack completely defy gravity, but it could be hella different everywhere else in the game, I'll give it a try. And as for the pics of the video shown at the end of FFVII : CC if you finish it twice, IT IS THE PS3 TECH DEMO VIDEO. I don't remember the last 2 pictures, but I CLEARLY remember the first 5. This was a video shown a long time ago, when the PS3 was announced, it was a TECH DEMO<<< remake of the intro cinematic of FF7. Nothing more, only one video. That video purpose is probably only to say ''Now that you finished this game, if you havent already played FF7, then go play it to know what happens next''. But anyone who wants to see the video (it doesnt say any spoiler, its the intro video of FF7) you can google ''FF7 PS3 TECH DEMO''. |
