Xbox vs. Xbox 360

Which do you think is/was a better console? This is one question I just have to ask. Playstation 2 is still going strong to this day even though Playstation 3 is available but it seems like ever since Xbox 360 came out, Xbox1 was like forcefully phased out not even a year after the release of the 360, and I can't say anything about the jump from the GameCube to the Wii. I personally thinki Xbox1 was a better console with better games and overall a more reliable system. So far, many of the Xbox 360 games I've played were totally uninteresting and the worst games I've ever played were on 360, but I'm still waiting to see what else is coming out though. Examples:
  • Kameo - Nice graphics, but not too interesting.
  • Quake4 - Very dry game...
  • Armored Core 4 - Can't get used to the controls, wasn't very exciting.
  • Moster Madness - Awful. One of the worst games I've ever played (sorry to say it too).
  • List goes on...

It even breaks way too much for me to recommend it to anyone. My Xbox1s in general don't have these random breakdown problems and I liked most Xbox1 games. I personally like the Xbox1 controller better than the 360's because it's too small and doesn't fit my hands comforably. The only thing about 360 that's good is the graphics, but they still aren't exactly "impressive" to me either. Overall the 360 has been a complete dissapointment for me.

I preferred xbox cuz you can do more on it like XBMC/homebrew and with 360 M$ is more anal. but the 360 has a better lineup then the original.

Actually you can do [non-XNA] homebrew on the 360, but it only works on two kernel revisions and it's a pain in the ass to do

Good choice, I own a 360, but I'm selling not because I don't like it, but I need the money. There are a few 360 games I actually want to try before I completely give up on it besides Halo 3 After all, homebrew and Cxbx is what got me initially interested in the great Xbox1

Inside? How so? If you're talking about hardware wise, then Xbox1 would definetly win because 360's hardware design and cooling system suck ass. 360's internal hardware is good, but poorly designed.

EDIT: Xbox1 can do high def resolutions too such as 480p and 1080i etc.

Well yeah, the 360 has more power than Xbox1. They all have heat sinks, but they aren't that efficient (especially the GPU heatsink). It's not just the heatsinks that make the hardware design poor, but the x-clamps are so tight, they can warp the board. I've taken one apart to fix and reassembled it and I noticed many ways the layout could be improved.

Dreamcast can do 480p as well, that's not HD though, but ED

In the end you're just playing upscaled games, the only thing "HD" about it is the resolution but you're still playing with low res textures and models. The only benefit would be that your screen wouldn't have to stretch and interpolate the image, and there might be less aliasing.

As for me, the 360 attracts me more. It's got more tempting and original games. Xbox 1 was as generic as it could be, it had nothing to offer over my Dreamcast and PC.

One vote for the 360 as well. XBox and its emulators were nice... but... ehm... *cough* If I'd wanted to play emulators, I'd use my computers.

The 360, all in all, has only one flaw: It is definitely not designed for hardcore gaming... that goes on for more than 32 hours. I'd think that it'd die after 16 hours of continuous gaming or so... or at least mine did. Something was literally being cooked up inside the machine the entire time I was playing with it. :S

I'm not really impressed with the 360 yet, but that could change over time.
I wasn't initially impressed with the XBOX, but I came to like it later on, and now I own one.
I just haven't seen 'next gen' games I want yet, other than Oblivion. I'm not in a hurry for it either as I still have to play through Morrowind!

I loved my Xbox dearly, but my vote goes for 360, it has a better lineup IMO. The hardware failures are worrying, but mine has been going strong since I got it over a year ago.

Nope. Some games had the option of 720 output and most of them could output at 480p. They still used low polygon models and textures but the output resolution was bigger. Is like playing the original Tomb Raider in 800x600: the same game but just higher resolution.

I never cared about running emulators on Xbox1, it was never important to me.

But one thing I do like about 360 is that the HDDs are detachable, which was good design, but they ****ed up with the mem cards. Allowing each player to have their own memory cards (total of 8 per console w/ 4 players) was a great idea. Now 4 players are limited to 2, not exactly an improvement. I don't exactly hate 360, but it can't replace my Xbox1 mainly because the emulator's compatibility is still too low and it won't play my favourite game(s).

The 360 is fairly good. Though it has some critical flaws such as heat issues and the mobo dieing. Probably would also be nice if it had proper xbox1 support (a.k.a not the cheap emulator they are using) but overall its still better. I dont understand why they didn't give xbox1 games higher resolutions. If you are writing an emulator for the xbox then the least they could do was give the games some resolutions to match. For example they could have easily added in HD res for Halo 1 and probably even got dashboard support in as well.

360's tentacular interactions with XP/MCE/Vista is more than I can live with. XboX is sufficiently satisfying (the soft library isnt bad, like DOA).
No 360 here before I finally drop Windows forever !!

SIXTEEN HOURS! How on Earth could anyone play a game for that length of time. When gaming on my consoles or my PC, I always make sure to take a break after an hour or two, so I can rest my eyes and my hands (so I don't get RSI).

Quite frankly if you are playing a game for 16 hours in a row it should break down so you can get some human interaction, even if it is only with the shop assistant demanding a replacement.
