Final Fantasy X on PSP - Anyone else think it's a good idea?
A few months ago, I started a thread on the official Sony forums for Playstation asking about the concept of Square porting FFX to PSP. It caught alot of attention before being deleted by the staff at Sony for unkown reasons (I guess they don't mind piracy and unofficial mod discussions, but ask for your favorite game to be ported, and you cross a line in their book). Anyways, since that time, I've created a petition for this very reason, and have also started a discussion thread that General Emulation for it. We also have a Digg article for it as well, and I'm trying to get anyone and everyone interested to sign this thing so that perhaps we can get one of the best PS2 games ever made ported to the PSP. As long as the PSP is going to get ports, it may as well get the megahits in there. I appreciate any support we get in this, and help spread the word on this if you'd like to see this dream come to life too. Link to Petition Discussion thread on General Emulation Digg Article - Help by digging it.

It would be a nice way for me to play the game, though I'd rather do so on my PC using PCSX2 one day ![]() IMO Square should get off their lazy arses because at this rate with such requests they will keep charging you for the same game over and over again, cashing in and not making new games at all.

FFX on PSP would be very nice. PSP still lacks quality ports from PS2, and unless I'm horribly mistaken, there aren't that many RPGs on PSP, so it makes less concurrence too ![]() I think FFX would fly high, especially in PSP bundles. Spoiler:

Since FFX uses very little post processing techniques (and although it may not look it) is a very simple game in terms of graphics, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too difficult to port. MPEG2 to MP4 video, and it's a done deal. Most of the FFX DVD is FMV, shrink that, and it would have plenty of room.

I'd like to see it on PSP too. The game itself wont need to be altered that much if it is to be ported so, yes.

i also got that idea, and i even had a dream there is a PSP port of FFX but yeah, i think the PSP can definitely handle the 3D graphics of FFX. just watch the crisis core trailer, the graphics are a little better than FFX. But the biggest problem would be the limited memory of 1.8GB. by downscaling the videos, downsample and compressing the voices to AT3 i can see a little hope. The compression from the rest of the data could be better! i can compress a 570KB modelfile to 280KB with 7z, the model in original compression on the dvd is ~450KB.

Indeed. After seeing what Crisis Core is going to look like, it's easy to tell the PSP could very well handle FFX. While I do love playing it on PCSX2, having it for the handheld would also be very nice. It's one of those games you'd like to be able to get into at any time in any place, and only the PSP can make that possible.

Portable PS2 games... well, it should have been done from the very beginning. If possible developers could port a lot of games to the PSP after the PS2 era... and there will be a lot of people buying those games. Plus... piracy on those games may turn out to be harder, since they may occupy a large amount of space on the UMD (up to 1.8GB of compressed data). Sounds good to me.
