Graphics on Metal Gear Solid 1 pc

I recently installed this great game on my pc, though of giving it a run again.

Well the thing that bothers me is that at first it says that my video card is not supported and the game will run in software mode.

I don't want to lose some effects because of that.

I have a 6800 atm.

btw, I think something similar happened with mgs2 but with later patches it was okay.

Any help on this.

i just got a new laptop and im having the same problem as you. my other computer was able to pull of hardware mode but my new laptop, which is way more powerful than my other one, only seems to be able to run in software. i dont know why but if i find out anything else ill post it. i dont know what it uses to render the game in that mode, it could be open gl or direct x which could be the reason. im thinking its possible my card, a Geforce 7900 GS, only supports one of them and that could be why it can only do software. my other laptop uses an ATI radeon xpresss which supports both. im not positive but we both might have cards that dont support whatever renderer it uses.

Wish I could modify the main exe like in mgs2 to support my video card.

Anyways let me know what you find about this.
