I'm right in my prediction. Emwearz is a fair bit better than me and thats with a ping of 350ms too.
The ping makes it overly hard to play, i have to shoot 5 seconds ahead, i literally shoot a rocket and wait 3 seconds for it to leave my gun. Good fun but.

i think the scores might be calculated based on how often you kill other members that have been ranked.

for example, killing Thanakil gives you more points than killing some n00b on the server.

it says on my statistics page that the person i've killed on the most is thanakil

The first TF2 game I joined sure dragged me down significantly, losses after losses. Ah well, at least this "training period" is ending soon ;D

Which doesn't mean much, except that you don't kill a lot of people, and that we play a lot at the same time .
(I think PCXL killed me twice the number of time you killed me)
And Bobrock killed me one time more than you did (I think), but I killed HIM abut 140 times =/

lol.

theoretically since I play TF2 everyday, my ranking should be getting better and better just as my skill is.

but since its not, it shows the ranking system is flawed.

Stop losing first ;P
In all justice, I'm suprised I've been listed only 18th, but then again I had not played often enough for my prowess in FPS games to be assessed in stats.

rank is determined by skill points

skill points has mostly to do with your kills+assists+wins+captures+dominations to deaths+losses ratio

also it depends on who you kill, if you get killed by a noob as opposed to thanakil your rank will drop down more. If you kill thanakil you will get more points than killing me for example.

I've been adding more and more kills and deaths to my stats, but since those ratios remains about the same I continue to hover around 400 skill points.

Falcs k/d ratio is low but he has tons of capture points which keep him high in the rankings plus he must have lots of kills against high skill pointed opponents.

For more accurate description look at the ELO rating system
Elo rating system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia -> falc already posted this.

that link dosn't really help out because its not specific to TF2 or the ranking system being used.

if the kill/death ratio is the main factor, it might make sense since i usually die alot.

however, i'm dieing less and less, and yet my ranking went down.

thats a possibility.

however, it said that i lost -79 points from the last time i played.

however, i played better becuase i have improved.

so even if people that are better than me bumped me down a few ranks, it still shouldn't lower my points.
since i played better.

if you played TF2 schumi, you would understand how horrible this system is
