Thats probably done with a special server setting since those arent defaults.

I wont turn on lowgrav or inf ammo since that would ruin imo the gameplay.

yeah it would ruin it for the other maps.

but with that map, theres special areas you can only goto with low-gravity.

thats part of what makes it fun.

you can be a Soldier, and shoot the ground and jump super-high, and then stand on a cloud. And then snipe from there...

anyways, if you can set it low gravity for just that map it would be cool.

if the Low-gravity mod is universal, and applies to all maps, then its best to just keep it off.

no, players only have weaknesses if you suck.

Medics that run around players = fail
medics should hide round the corner from the guy they heal
also medics should shoot anyone calling with full health (spy)
and NEVER uber anyone but a soldier, demo or heavy

engineers that build in places demos can reach = fail
engies should learn to hide their sentries

heavies that spin the gun at any time other than turning a corner = fail
you're not that slow if you know when to spin

Edit, to clear this up:
if an enemy approaches you (which only happens when not turning corners) then you whip the shotgun out and fire,
you don't have time to spin up


macro weapon switching to the mose, reload to mouse and the melee weapon (class 3) to key E
medic changed to Q

spies who don't think in terms of acting = fail
spies should only EVER disguise as a soldier, demo or pyro
any other player disguise is wrong

spies shouldn't run back to base or call medics on full health (duh)


snipers who don't watch their back or hide in corners = fail
spies will own

soldiers have no obvious weakness, but don't rocket jump all the time and call for medics
I WILL let you die

demos who try to play offense and aren't uber skilled = fail
there's a reason demos are a defense class, demos should camp in popular spots

pyros who don't randomly flame team-members = fail,
pyros are the main anti span class

scouts
who don't use a two attack approach = fail
scouts should attack with two shotgun blasts, run away instantly
then run back from a different place to finish off the victim


if all players obide these simple rules the teams will be structured and weaknesses closed

and the Soldier's weekness is that his shots arn't very fast, and he can only shoot 4 at a time b4 needing to reload.

I also don't like how if you rocket jump, you still damage yourself, even if you did it perfectly.
the main reason i'd use the rocket jump is for a quick escape when low on HP, but since it damages you, you can end up killing yourself.
so its pretty pointless..

that's not a weakness if you're good,
a good soldier will click the mouse sidebutton and whip the gun out for close encounters

as for slow shots, practice and judging a players moves ensure they're left in pieces

yeah, i tend to fire towards the ground near where the player is, simply because if i missjudge where they are gonna be n the rocket misses, if its in the same area, itll still cause damage, so its not a completely wasted rocket.

Exactly. I like TF2, but I like HL2: DM infinitely better than anything else out there. Everyone is equally powerful, and if you get on the right servers, you can have the mag from the start, infinite run, and low grav to make it funner to jump. I like TF2 for the teamwork element, but that really only works when you voicechat.

Falcon4ever: Can you make the maps on your server have instant respawn and 30 second preparation time before the round begins? I hate waiting about 16 seconds for a respawn. It makes the action not seamless and makes the time go by quicker.

hey CoD4 has good ballancing too.

altho you get better weapons as you play (it has a sort of leveling system in that respect) a n00b can still come along and level up without getting slaughtered too hard. I do prefer it to TF2, but i like TF2 for its manicness, I dont care if i lose, as long as i enjoy my time in there.

Unbalancing makes the game less fun tho, cause it makes some classes useless by making other classes too strong.
And yes, they did make some classes suck at "some things" but that's necessary otherwise some classes would be too good and no-one would play anything else.

Example, if they made the Heavy very agile, with good mobility, and with more ammos...

What would be his weakness? He would just be a huge guy with lots of HP, a weapon that kick freakin ass (as long as you're not freakin far away from him, and even then sometime you may get unlucky) and who could move really well.

He's got a huge gun that probably weights more than him, obviously he has to have some drawback .
(hell, with a guy without those problems, games would end up half snipers, half heavies)




But custom maps can be fun like this it's true, but balancing is obviously needed in serious games. Otherwise some classes definitely end up overpowered against other classes, it breaks any kind of balance.

And without balance, there isn't fun anymore. Balance is what makes you learn how to play your class, balance lets you learn what your weakness are, understand them, and learn to play with them.

A good player doesn't let his weakness gets in his way.
I only got 4 rockets? I'll make them count. If I know there's too many enemies to reload, I fallback for a short time.
I can't move very well as a heavy? Then make sure to be in front of a wall to prevent spies to backstab me, make sure that I'm in a good spot, ect.


The way the game is balanced is to promote teamwork too.
Since we all have our weaknesses, we have to play as a team to make each-other stronger. If we play alone, we're just one guy. If we play together, we're a invincible team.

See it as Rock, Paper, Scissor.
If you know how to play rock, you'll avoid Paper, or you'll try to make up for your weakness when you see it.
But you can't just complain because your Rock is weak against Paper. Because if we were to remove it, now Rock would be kickass against anything, except possible other rocks. Giving it a huge advantage.

Instead, play with a Paper and a Scissor, and try to work as a team. That way you can all work together to kick major ass.
