How hard is it to get Blood running in XP?

I snagged a copy for $2.50 today, in jewel case with docs.

I decided to get it as a member suggested I give it a try since I like FPS games.

Some lucky person snagged Battlefield 2142 for either $5 or $2.50, Goodwill was selling everything 1/2 off today from 11am - 4pm.

I saw the games earlier this week and wasn't sure I wanted them, but since Charline wanted to go today, I decided to buy Blood since it was still there...

I figured a collector would have snagged the game first, but I was lucky, I guess...

not worth the trouble, runs great in dosbox 0.7(dynamic core), if you have an uptodate pc: with my athlon64 @ 2400 mhz, i can play @ 640*480

damn fool im playing blood right now, episode 2 level 7 to be exact. weird. anyway, use vdm sound, its not hard at all if you use certain patches. i can get it running with perfect sound and music at 800 x 600. dosbox is not as good for blood, trust me ive tried it. pm me if you need more help as it can be tricky but i can give you my vdm settings that should work for you. "Build on XP" - How to Play Build Engine Games Like Duke 3D on Windows XP follow that guide, that should get it to work. that guide will not get you perfect sound and music though,like i said, pm me for that, i use different settings than the ones listed on step 8 of that guide. i dont know what version you have, but i highly suggest you seek out the plasma pack add-on. it updates you version to the latest, and it gets rid of a really nasty level looping bug that was present in certain versions.

jonc, did you try the latest dosbox (0.70)? Because it had a rather huge speed boost....

yes but i still prefer vdm sound for blood. it just works better imo. its not the speed either, its the sound. i couldnt get it right with dosbox, i could get the game to start, but the sound was horrible. i use dosbox for system shock though, another great fps.

Blood? Oh gee I can remember playing that lol. I got it for free though

i had the abandonware version at one point too but i was pretty much forced to get the cd and the plasma pack in order to fix a level looping bug that was in that free version. its really not too hard to find the game cheap, and the plasma pack and cryptic passage add-ons are really sweet so its worth the money.

It appears to allow you to play music?

How does it let you play the game?

by "play" you mean lag or framerate, right? i dont have any lag whatsoever so that should happen if you use the settings i use.
