Which is the best Resident Evil game?
Upon completing Resident Evil 4, I thought it was one of the best games ive played on the PS2. The graphics are great and so is the gameplay. At first I thought the new perspective was weird but it was actually great for this game. Previously I liked Resident Evil 2 but now I think the 4th game may be the best IMO.
So I was just wondering which of the Resident Evil games are your favourite?

Yeah Resident Evil 4 was quite awesome on the ps2, its really innovative and it shows Capcom's efforts in not just milking its license (take outbreak #2 for example)
Second runners up is Gamecube Resident Evil, that was the time when I went to my friends house and play this game, and actually feeling left out of not owning a gamecube.

i like the 1st one. im still at the very beginning in RE4 (right at the place where you enter that small village) so i cant really say too much yet. call me stupid but i find it hard to aim and kill things because i cant backpedal while fireing which is something im used to in games like that. i have to remain stationary and im always getting surrounded by them and they gut me like a fish.

Either that or you shoot on of the closeby enemies in the head and then kick it, this brings about all surrounding enemies down too, and does considerable damage.
I'm not able to determine which RE i enjoy(ed) most, mainly because they all need each other to make an overall opinion of this great series.

My favorite RE games are (from favorite to least favorite):
1.) Resident Evil 1 (both original and remake, especially the original because it's the one that started it all for me) 2.) Resident Evil 4/Resident Evil 0 (still haven't finished it yet, the leech man creeps me out) 3.) Resident Evil: Code Veronica/Outbreak 4.) Resident Evil 3 5.) Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 2 was my least favorite because of the whole stupid mansion style police department. The original concept would have been way cooler. |

well, RE4 would be the best GAME, of course, but the best RESIDENT EVIL GAME, that would be REmake! the thing is, i just always liked the setting and enemies of the first game best, with sharks running lose and plants taking over buildings you really never knew what to expect next.
i actually stopped playing RE4 by the time i got into the castle... im sorry, but that setting with its scary fighting monks was just so idiotic that i lost any interest in the game, even though i found everything up to that point spectecular. |

Resident evil 4 is just a breathtaking game. Just when you think it can't top it's last spectacular setpiece, it throws another and another at you until it's almost too much to take. not just my favourite resident evil by a huge margin, but one of my favourite games, period.

I think RE4 is the best game in the series, it's cinematic presentation, fast pace combat, great graphics, unlockables and the very fact that you can actuaily see things coming make RE4 for the PS2 the best in the series.

I have to agree with you on that one. It just didn't feel like Resident Evil to me. The whole parasite thing really didn't work for me because Resident Evil was about zombies. It was a fun game though. Capcom needs to get back on track with the zombie storyline in part 5 though.

I like the 1st one the most...
then Code veronica, RE2 & RE3... (didn't play RE0 or REmake...) RE4 is a very good action game, but appart from the regenerators part, it wasn't scary at all... (too much amno to really get nervous about anything...)

I am surprised that ppl arent voting more for RE2. IMO it is the best RE game. RE1 started the series but real fun started only from RE2.... Amazing graphics for PS, lots of hidden things, alternate story lines, different endings.. it still feels too good to be true....
RE4 is close but ya RE2 still wins it. WOW... feel like playing RE2 again..

RE2 was the first I ever played, I used to finish the first scenerio easily but always went struggling on the second (specially because of that giant dude that terrorizes you. I even had nightmares with him), and it's final was kind of confusing. The puzzles weren't so smart like I got to see in RE1, and the storyline was weak IMO.

yeah, I voted for res 2.
I loved resident evil 4 but for me my first res game was 2 and that is the one I'll always remember. For its time I thought the scenario A/B system was cool as well as the character leon.
