favorite genre hybrids

ive been playing some games lately that are blends of two or more different types of game genres. system shock 2 for example is a FPS/RPG mix that really works well and has really awsome gameplay. what type of genre blends do you prefer/like?

FPS/RPG for me as well,
games like deus x and system shock being an example.

FPS/horror too.
can't wait until bioshock comes out.

Adventure/RPG/Fighting for me, Shenmue is without a doubt the best hybrid I've ever played.

Anyway, I enjoy horror games, but horror isn't a genre to me. It's a certain atmosphere rather than a type of game.

The first 2 are on DC only.
there was a rumor years back that it was coming out the xbox 1.

But since the 2 games cost millions to make and had limited commercial success,
I can't really see a third coming out anytime soon,

shame really.

Shenmue was a Dreamcast exclusive. Shenmue 2 was released on Dreamcast in Japan and in Europe, not in North America. M$ bought the rights to "guarantee" continuity of the series, according to Peter Moore. Shenmue 2 appeared on Xbox there, but we haven't seen a Shenmue 3 yet.

There will be an online Shenmue game though, which is bound to suck just as much as any random free MMORPG out there, perhaps even more because it is a downright insult for the Shenmue saga to end like this.

Btw, Shenmue made the Guinness Book of Records with its $70.000.000,- They also have all the artwork and textures done, in raw uncompressed format.

I sort of recently found out that I'm apparantly a fan of platform-rpg hybrids.

another one i liked was GTA san andreas because of the RPG style character making/stats system. i thought it was pretty cool and it fit pretty well without standing out too much and not making GTA's gameplay too different from the past 2 GTA games.

yeah that was cool, you felt more in control of your character,
but I don't like it when things get too deep in RPG,

Lets hope the next GTA doesn't require you to sleep for 12 hrs or something like that.
