Square-Enix got a piece of their fans' minds: FF7 REMAKE OR BUST!

It seems as if Square-Enix would be torn to bits and pieces by fans if they don't make a FFVII remake anytime soon... lol I mean... with all of those rumors and etc, etc that they bashed down, fans still haven't given up. 9 years after the game has been out, the game is still wanted that bad.

The game may have been a hit, but can't we just move on? I look forward to what new, fresh ideas Square-Enix has in store and would rather see that. The game did it's bidding, just accept it for what it was and let it be. I think it's time to move on.

I personally didn't have a PS1 at the time the original came out. I played some of the older ones and by the time I got my PS FF8 was coming out so I held out for that... and never ended up getting around to playing 7 all that much and although I'm sure it's an amazing game I can't really stand the graphics. Then I played FFX and was blown away at what was even possible on the PS2 so I'm sorry but since I missed it the first time the #1 RPG I want for a next gen system is FF7.

I have nothing against them making a remake, I just don't understand why people want to play the "old stuff" all over again. Aren't you up for some fresh ideas? Besides, if you really want to play FF7 that badly on your PS3, play it through backwards compatibility. Sure, it won't have sweet new graphics...but you still get to play the game on a next gen system. Are people going to want an FF7 remake for PS4 also?

It has to do with the age of the game, there are many gamers now that hear about all of the FF7 hype that missed out on the original. With Square already showing off a tech demo it creates more hype and now people want to play what they saw. Only Square has the power to transform a blockbuster hit RPG with lackluster graphics into a full blown cinematic experience with Next Gen graphics, improved audio, and amazing cut scenes... there are a ton of blatantly obvious reasons people want this game to be remade and if you can't figure any of them out on your own I'm sorry. Oh and the PS4 comment, the damn game came out 10 years ago and if you look on Ebay it's still around $50 or so... so most people who want to play the game wouldn't mind spending $60 for a brand new PS3 Blu-ray version.

I'm sorry, but I own Final Fantasy VII and I never understood the reason it was soooo popular.

I managed to get a copy, because a local friend who ran a video store had purchased it for rental after being bugged about it for a while, well a month after she purchased it, noone had rented it and she was pissed, so I blabbed, why not sell it to me @ cost? In 5 minutes I had the game for around $38.99, which wasn't bad since it was selling for $50 at the time.

I even purchased a PC version with the intent of giving one version to Charline in the future, and she quiety told me she didn't like the game or want it, so I donated the PC version to Goodwill...

I'm keeping the Playstation version and may complete it someday. Hopefully.

I have backed up my original CDs to ISO then to DVD in case my original CDs ever break...

Meh, if it ain't broke... .

Seriously though, there's really no point in remaking. I hardly doubt that they'll be a worldwide boycott on S-E games just because they won't be remaking FFVII. Don't get me wrong, it's probably my #2 of the franchise, but I probably wouldn't buy it. I've got pretty good memory and an RPG gets quite boring, even with enhanced graphics, sound, music and gameplay, if I already know the storyline and what's going to happen. Hell, no matter how many extras they add in, it'll still just be FFVII.

Most of the whiners demanding S-E remake FFVII are people who probably didn't even know about the FF series until FFVII hit NA for PS1. Some of my friends who are FFVII fanatics don't know squat about pre-FFVII games.

If S-E does go into the remaking game, Chrono Trigger and Xenogears should take precedence over FFVII anyday....FLAME ON !

I don't know if i agree with you there,
FF7 is the RPG which made the arguably made the whole genre 'cool'
and 'mainstream'.

If there's one franchise that deserves a remake, its that game.

Remakes can be very good, take resident evil 1 for GC, where capcom
completely revamped the game, and added extra content or two.

But I'm not going to lose sleep over whether S-E are going to make
a remake or not.

If S-E does make a remake I hope they don't just cash in by putting
a graphical shine on the game and having the same game as 1997
that would be sooo un cool.

Careful... because people have been plotting plans and all that behind your back the whole time!

And... that's why they refused to do a remake just for this particular game. They just simply don't dare to "alter" it in any way...

I hope I don't get assassinated for saying what I did.

sometimes, fans can be the biggest reason why a franchise never changes,
and thus becomes stale.

Damn fanboys.

But if S-E does 'alter' the content and made the game differ slightly to 1997 then I would most certainly get it if I had the chance.
Its a question whether they have the balls to do it or not, like you said.

If they just revamp the graphics, fanboys can have it all they want.

Nah... you just missed out on quite a number of things.

Yep... but most fans would want a franchise to change in the good direction.

lol Now you may want to find a safe shelter.

You know... about 3/4 of FF7 fans would like to see Aeris revived... even though that is not in the original scripts.

fresh idea? You mean like they did to FFXII . No thanks, I prefer the "old stuff" one like FFVII.

it does. but keep in mind while the graphics are dated it still is a game that you almost have to play before you die. i played it when it first came out so the graphics dont bother me but i can understand someone who has never played it. but still, with new graphics and all, a remake will never be THE ff7 people praise left and right.

i doubt they would add that, it would destroy the credibility of the stories from the stuff they have released like that ff7 movie and the other ff7 stuff in-progress since aeris is still dead in those.

Meh,i could care less about a FFVII remake but then again i never liked the game to begin with. They should remake FFV with improved job system(more classes, power to put more than one ability from one class) and maybe translate it into 3D.

Agreed. If anything could benefit from an update, it would be the later 2d games like V and VI or Chrono Trigger etc. Personally I think FF7's perfect just the way it is.
