Bring back Diving in PES/WE?

i was just wondering about your opinions on this :

Back in the day of the ps 1 when pro evolution used to have the ridiculous moniker of iss pro evolution deluxe 2 you could make a player dive by pressing all the shoulder buttons at the same time. You could make a dive at any time but if it was blatant u would get a yellow and possibly a red card. Genius! This should be in the next pro evo, maybe just as an option, and certain players (Robben, Andy Johnson, Gerrard, Ronaldo etc) should have a star for it.

i think its a novel idea

I'd just be happy if they stopped putting out rubbish fifa-style incremental updates and actually took their time to make a definitive game again.

Add Robben to it

Also note that these guys should actually have a lower percentage of succeeding since the ref should know of their tricks. In fact, they should be allowed to get tackled without consequences because of the ref thinking him making a Schwalbe

agreed. that said, i think its all part of the game and the theatrics are part of what i love about it as well.

still, its a better game than Fifa so you dont feel so bad about buying every increment. plus, next iteration, theyre adding a lot to it.

Thats very true, I guess its easy to get a little complacent when youre easily the best at what you do. Glad to hear theres going to be some significant updates next time around though.

I still recall that you could dive in FIFA World Cup 98. Me and my friend had a laugh or two wondering why an official game would have that feature.

Diving in football games is one of those features that would make a multiplayer session "worthwhile." Imagine getting a last-minute penalty via diving, and hearing your friend(s) complain about the decision constantly, even after the game has long finished.

Incidentally, those kind of features are one of the best things about split-screen gaming compared to online gaming. Your friend can't shout racial slurs at you in a whiney voice and disconnect (well, not without getting punched.)

BTW: I remember also in the ISS or FIFA games you had the option of a "blatant" tackle, in which your player would just dive into the opponents legs. Also (again, quite ironically) FIFA World Cup 98 had the option of elbowing/punching opponents if I recall correctly.

The only thing that PES is missing is tackling the goalkeeper ability.I loved doing that in FIFA(ditto if the new ones have, the last one i played was 99 or 2000).

Actually,he can.Kicking your "friend" in a sack will "disconnect" him immediatly.

Finally a thread i can jump in, i love PES...anyway, it's a nice feature to have, and i think Konami should add it, it would add to the realism feel the game already has. I also hope they improve the gfx on the next iteration.

I had WC98 for N64. It was the only soccer game I've really enjoyed.

Schwalbe, or "swallow" in English, comes from those birds diving during flight. It's the official name for diving in football here. Though you can easily make a verb out of names from the people named in a few posts back
